Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Round 4 - If EOI - When can you start with a new company?

So if I take the EOI route, how soon can I get a job with another company outside of the oil & gas sector and still receive the severance?

November 2nd? Or do I need to wait after the redeployment period?

Couldn't find anything in the official info....

If you EOI, you can start employment with another company as soon as you’re off the Chevron payroll. In other words, immediately after the last payroll check is paid. You should actually be given the exact date prior to the WARN period beginning. As soon as that period is done, you can officially start your new job the next day. Perfectly legal.

Folks who EOId in R3 are losing all network access this week. They are still on payroll for another month. But in effect all ties are severed once turn in badge and computer.

On the topic that your boss can have 50% of your time. I'd just call in sick. If I was the boss, and someone was leaving, why have them around at all! No one has every cared about succession.

Since you are leaving the industry, go for it.

I know at least one person who started a new job a few months ago. He is also still with Chevron and they have no clue. He has to sometimes juggle meetings, but not too bad.

When I say not able take their EOI right away there is a redeployment period. Also, CVX has accepted their EOI but they need they to work for a certain period of time before handing over the reins to their successors. They are not able to just walk away and collect their severance tomorrow.

What do you mean by "not able to take in right away", but approved. Redeployment is extended?

@vjg

I think round 3 EOI’s were already approved. Some are not able to take it right away, but they were approved.

During the 6 week redeployment period CVX can request you spend at least 50% of your time doing whatever they need you to do. The rest of that time is yours to prepare for your next move. However, in almost all cases your boss is just going to tell you bye and you won’t be required to work during that time.

If your going to EOI and you have a good relationship with your Boss, I would tell them now so he can help you be off work during the redeployment period.

Good luck!

Does anyone know whether or not all EOI's are approved (R3) or going to be approved (R4)

You are still a chevron employee during the redeployment period. You can not officially start a new job until redeployment ends 12/14. Otherwise you basically quit and will forfeit your severance.

You should double check with HR since there are rules around companies that are affiliates or work with chevron but after your last day in the office you can get another job. You don't have to wait for your redeployment period to end.
