Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

This is America, corporations get to hire whoever they want.

Do you want the government to tell American companies who they can and can't hire?

Don't like it, vote better.

When you offshore a job or buy goods from say, China, the American consumer saves money.

Or more profits go to Wall Street and then I've been told they "trickle down". LOL

I would prefer we keep jobs here, and I would prefer that we make more things here, but people don't seem to realize the benefits to the American economy cheap labor and imports give.

I did say I'd rather keep things here, so please don't flame up.

If you don't want your job to go offshore, be better at your job, add some value that the other guy can't.

And yes, it does appear that a lot of this anger is more about "lack of paleness" than anything else.

@uwq+1d5peQre - It has to do with layoffs because a bunch of us were laid off this past 18 months in the middle of a pandemic.

Geesh - The company just invented new jobs to hire ppl in India. No! They shifted their American workforce (AKA we trained our replacements and were then LET GO!) to Indian Nationals in India.

It isn't always about you buddy. There are plenty of people who live paycheck to paycheck that can't afford to save. They need Social Security.

What about those payroll taxes that pay for things like, I dont know NATIONAL DEFENSE or BASIC GOVERNMENT FUNCTIONS?

The point went over your head. When an American job is sent overseas there is a loss of tax income at the local, state and federal level. That is one less person paying into SS.

The money saved is shifted into dividends, stock buybacks for awards and other areas that benefit a very small group of people.

Those that are further enriched also are already well above the SS tax cap.

Unless the jobs going overseas are replaced with as good or better jobs, it is a drain on the country.

How about this OP. Their paychecks go to US employees? They work you get paid. Happy?

So serious question OP, but why should Indian nationals pay taxes to a foreign government? Using your reasoning, The same argument could then be made that all the good American workers building Toyotas at factories across this country should then pay taxes to Japan.

If you want to complain to your congressperson about offshoring that’s fine, but find a better freaking argument than getting foreign nationals to pay taxes to the US government. You’ll be laughed off the phone.

yep but to be fair all of the people who immigrated from india are sending all of their money back to india instead of spending it in the US so we are already being gutted.
