Thread regarding Cenovus Energy layoffs

The Board

I wonder what the Board of Directors thinks of AP these days. If we had good corporate governance, they would care. They would care a lot actually as it impacts operational effectiveness, profitability and safety.

Given AP had to identify employee culture, once again, as one of his 2021 goals, I suspect they are watching him very closely this year. He is taking this place to the brink across the company unfortunately.

Yes, take on risk, but not so much risk that you damage and destroy the value within the organization.

“Duh”? For a moment I thought I was reading text from my 10 year old. You think Forbes is going to send a survey to every single person within Cenovus? That’s not how it works. Forbes uses research firms.

Well yes you would know of a survey occurred evasive as an employee you would have been part of it. Duh

That Forbes thing is a joke. There was no survey about that, probably based on HR self reporting.

Our board is as useless as our management. Don’t wait for them to save you or you’ll be sadly disappointed. They’ve overseen some of the worst business decisions ever made like the Conoco acquisition.

I don’t know if you can say employee morale is the lowest ever as in 2019 CVE was voted one of the worst company’s work for worldwide on the Glassdoor. Ever since HR and communications teams have been posting fake reviews on there desperately trying to get the company score back up.

We should take it as a personal challenge to get it back down where it should be on the website.

The announcement to build the Bow was the beginning of the end, it's been downhill ever since.

Been here over 10 years and never seen moral and culture this low. It’s very sad actually and I hope it gets better.

The board is as big a joke as the management at CVE. All they do is rubber stamp management's ideas and "initiatives".

Who greenlighted the CP acquisition, structured carefully to avoid a shareholder vote?
Who is responsible for procuring top management and evaluating performance?
Who is responsible for top management compensation and "retention" bonuses?
Who is ultimately responsible for the 5,000+ layoffs over the past 4 years?

A private investor was dismayed in October. While Husky was considered to be poorly managed, Cenovus was worse. Alex P. Keaton is a LAWYER. What does he know about overseeing a petroleum company?

Glad I no longer work there !!
