Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

The number will be higher than 700 by january 2021. They are not counting early retirements, temps or forced quits. Any way you look at it, there’s no transparency on actual numbers.

The "at least 500" quote comes from Nike's original WARN notification dated July 23rd:

My wife was laid off this past week after 6 years of service. one week after returning from maternity leave. They stated that the decision was made to fire her in June, a month after our child was born. The culture has gone from amazing to awful in a short period of time. Does anyone else know of any new mothers that were laid off recently that we could get in touch with?

The Oregonian is misleading people, as usual. Originally it was "AT LEAST" 500, which I would guess Nike has blown through that number. So they should be reporting again "AT LEAST" 700.

What happened to quality journalism and getting facts straight?

@vdk the total amount laid off is well over 1k already. VP, S bands, senior directors, directors, managers are well over 1k. 🙁

I am NOT defending JD. To be fair though, he did say that layoffs are "largely" behind us. He did not say they are all done!

700 is much lower than the thousands that some people had predicted.
