I retired in Nov 22, I have had a very poor experience with Alight (NESC) and VIA. Lot's of time getting things worked out. One tip: after you retire, move your HSA money to Fidelity - much better! (no fees and better investments). Get rid of Alight as soon as you can where you can!

Had ok experience with NESC except some are difficult to understand their english.

VIA has been ok but if you are signing up for healthcare some of agents they send you to are not very competent. I had to call back to get another agent.

I gave VIA a poor rating on their follow-up survey since my issue wasn't resolved. I received a phone call within a week from VIA demanding to know why I gave them the lowest rating. The individual wasn't concerned about resolving my issue, just basically chastised me for giving my honest opinion. Go to https://www.bbb.org/us/ut/south-jordan/profile/insurance-agency/via-benefits-insurance-services-llc-1166-22242628/customer-reviews and read why VIA gets 1.13 out of 5 stars for customer satisfaction.

ViaB, NESC, health care, 401k selections etc. etc. all cheapest offerings they can provide to the employees. They save pennies, but cost us thousands. They care so much about the people, don’t they. What a disappointment it has become. And the saddest thing is they don’t care.

If you can have at least $10k per month from your pension, IRA, and 401k and no mortgage payment then you are ready to retire.

Close to retiring, was hoping to get canned and receive any amount of severance.
What is the issue with NESC?

If NESC is a problem for you, wait. ViaB is there to up the scale.

I've heard of NESC being either incompetent, outright malfeasant. Can anyone provide tips on dealing with them?

I am delaying retiring to accumulate more pension years. That is a benefit that Ford offered me when recruiting and hiring me. I am not sure why newer hires who did not receive this benefit believe that we do not deserve it. Why are you accepting the 401k deposit they make or the 401k match they are giving you as a benefit?

For those of you getting ready to retire just prepare yourself. If you thought they treated you like cr-p while still employed you just wait and see how they treat you as a salary retiree. In addition, don’t trust a word you are told by NESC. make sure you have it / see it in writing. They will miss inform you, not provide you with complete information and cause you a huge financial loss. Then they refused to do anything about it. They will bully you because they know there’s nothing you can do about it.
