Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

I see many people have received their notifications

I know this might sound like a stupid question, but is there a chance they sent out all notifications in advance and if we didn't get anything, we're good?

Your invite may come to you tomorrow or later this week, or even no invite, due to high volume of HR process, it may need patience more days.

@vpo+1uxdNcCu Cisco gives them money and/or cherry picks people in HR for the survey.

The only way to know for sure if you're safe is your manager says it.

Yeah, they told us that in Feb, and then they "finished it up" only last month.

no longer with cisco but my notification from last LR came a day later on the day we're supposed to receive the notification. So I thought I was safe when the day was over but boy was I surprised the next morning. Kinda cruel if you ask me, why would you make them wait entire day making them think they're safe and then break out the news late the next day. So someone was right saying the notification can comes at any time this week. The only way to know for sure if you're safe is your manager says it.

Being part of the LR in February, my invite did not come out until later in the morning just before lunch. Notifications can come out at anytime. To be honest, I was at Cisco for 14 years and every year stressed out about LRs. Now I am at a company that is thriving and the term "LR" is not even used at this time. It is very nice not to worry about this every 6 months. Not sure how Cisco can be "The Best Place to Work" when things like this happen on a regular basis.

Remember that the impact last month was leftovers from February’s. Based on past companies, I would assume that if you’re impacted in the US, you’ll get notification today. After that, your chances drop down to slightly above baseline corporate reshuffle.

It really depends on circumstances related to geo, type of role, and whether other layers in the org are impacted. This can continue potentially for weeks, unfortunately. This is just the first sortie.

Not necessarily. When I was caught in an LR a few years ago my invite came in more towards mid-day. My manager's time zone was three hours behind mine and they didn't follow the more typical process of having the 1:1 very early in their morning.

Usually, if you have a good leader, they'll let the team know that its over and all notifications have been made. But usually they try to coordinate that across the full org which can be near impossible.

Based on past history, anything is possible but there is a typical scenario.

There is a goal to do all the notifications before noon.

Invites typically arrive by the morning of the day. I got mine in the middle of the night.

Often, in the afternoon, there is a meeting for the survivors. They do not announce who got laid off but you can tell by who did not get invited from your team. At this point, you are definitely safe.

It’s not end of week, it’s 16 September. Quit saying that.

Not necessary, wait atleast until noon and then maybe check with your manager. I wouldn't be fully at peace until end of day or manager confirmation. Good Luck!
