So with the new Texas medical law upping the THC how does this effect the dr-g test / dr-g policy.

I know in Cali chevron does not test for p-t in the dr-g test.
I believe in recent years in Texas and Louisiana for offshore they still tested for p-t but not 100% on that.

Do we know what the policy is or what the policy number is so I can look it up

I'll preface my comments by stating that I am anti-dr-g and anti-drunk, but...

I know for a fact that a ton of folks have been starting happy hour at 10am. I can't speak for those using the Devil's Lettuce, because oddly enough people are a bit more forthcoming about drinking on the job vs. their use of dr-gs.

So want I want to know is have we been more productive or effective when no one is around to see what is in the coffee cup? Again, alcoholism is a serious disease, but we've moved so far away from a "Mad Men" alcohol in the office environment that ANY amount of alcohol is viewed as horrific. It's patently absurd. You can't tell me that 8oz of beer is somehow worse than the sugar drop experienced after eating a candy bar or high-carb lunch.

One of the projects I have been on during WFH had a Team's BYOB afterhours team-building meeting. It was optional, and non-official, but was attended by most of the team. It's amazing what happened to the Chevron silence after a single beer was had. I'd argue that we could improve our level of feedback and communication if we had more of these types of events.

Alcohol is a little different.

1) you can test positive for alcohol forget the number but I believe it’s 0.02 and they don’t due anything
2) they don’t test alcohols going back days and weeks like Maryjane it’s a spot test.

With that said I wonder at what point the federal law will change.

Don’t know about California, but they sure as he-l randomly test on safety unrelated office workers here in Texas. Before you would get a call to report within an hour and now it comes over teams. Testing has paused while we work at home, but I expect it will start up again soon after we return. While I am not sure specially what all they test for, we were send an email a couple of years ago reminding us that maryjane is still considered illegal by the feds and therefore also by Chevron.

In its seminal 2008 ruling in Ross v. Ragingwire Telecommunications, Inc., the California Supreme Court held that employers are not required to accommodate ma------a use, including as a medical treatment for a disability or injury, because it remains illegal under federal law and because the underlying legislation did not specifically compel employers to permit ma------a use in the workplace.

Pre-Employment Testing
California law allows an employer to require a "suspicionless" dr-g test as a condition of employment after a job offer is tendered but before the employee begins working.
Routine or Random Dr-g Testing
You may not require employees to submit to random dr-g testing, except under certain narrowly defined circumstances.

It is illegal to randomly dr-g/alcohol test non-safety sensitive positions in california. However, if you are tested for pre-employment or random, they can, will, and do test for weed and alcohol.

Many employees have developed dr-g and alcohol addictions while working from home. Medical will be rooting these out during 4Q with intensive testing.

It has nothing to do with the law on substances. Alcohol, for example, is legal but if CVX detects it you can be fired.

California absolutely tests for p-t. The law is that the company can test new hires, and can do random tests on safety sensitive positions. They cannot random positions that are not safety sensitive. But they absolutely test for weed.
