Non-tech managers making technology decisons

It is sad to see managers without technical background making technology decision without listening to the the technical staff. When asked to explain the decision made, the manager declined to provide explanation. Most likely, the manager was told to make a certain choice regardless of where or not it is the right choice for the product. The individual does not have the guts to admit to that. I would respect the decision regardless of weather or not I agree with it as long as there is an explanation provided.

@vur+1mcMaDUe Your view point has some truth to it, but it is not entirely true. If the negative impact of the decision is big enough then the "Don't worry, be happy attitude" will not help you. Upper management will be looking for people to fire and there will other consequences. Also they will be investigating if the situation was preventable or not.
The sad part is that most that are not in operation tend to think exactly like you.

Who cares. It's not your company. If it's the wrong decision, it will just extra time to correct it. As long as the company has funding for the project (and JPM seems to), then just go with the flow. If recession hits, and projects are completed, then you'll be the first to go. The key is to stay busy. If there is funding, and there is a sc--w up, and there has to be a delivery, then your job is secure. Don't complain, be glad the project is screwed up. It benefits the entire group (job security).
