Several people who applied for the last voluntary RIF, who were initially recieved correspondence saying it was denied, were contacted by HR yesterday saying that it was approved.
They weren't asked if they still wanted to volunteer, they were told they are being RIFd now.
@oiz. Thanks for that. Didn't think of doing that but I can see how it could work. Even if they don't accept it now the request would be on file.
@war: If you're serious about leaving ask your HR rep to email you the VRIF request. You're correct that after you send it in it's irrevocable.
Don't wait for the next time and just submit it now. I did it that way last October and out of the blue they accepted it with my director's approval in December and I left early January with a six month severance after 38 years.
Not a surprise. At least in our call it was made very clear that once submitted the request is irrevocable. I guess the next time they ask I'm going to try.
