Farley "Too Many People" comment on Q2 Earnings Call

Adam Jonas - Morgan Stanley -

"Does Ford have too many people?"

Jim Farley-

"As I said in my comments, Adam, we absolutely have too many people in certain places, no doubt about it. And we have skills that don't work anymore. We -- and we have jobs that need to change. And we have lots of new work statements that we've never had before.

We are literally virtually -- we are reshaping our company, like every part of our company. And on our ICE business, we want to simplify it. We want to make sure the skills we have and the work statements we have are as lean as possible. We know our costs are not competitive at Ford.

But we are -- that's what I mean by we are not satisfied. But I just want to emphasize that in the past, at least in my career for 40 years, we kind of often and discriminately just taking the costs out. That's not what's happening at Ford now. This is a different kind of change where we're reshaping the company, reshaping skills, investing in new technologies and simplifying investments in others, i.e., spending less.

So -- and we have -- it's kind of the old adage. Yes, I think every company probably has too many people. I just -- we have to go do the workflows and decide how this works now going forward."

I like how all these people are al screwed now. All careers suddenly destroyed. All because ICE's are dying. Per political desire. The as*ho-e is going to be the customer who will realize he's paying more for getting a lot less.

No one at the wh*re press talks about the impact on people. You would have to restart your entire career to make it worth anything anywhere else. All thanks to radical politics. Because a few of our ruined and stupid children asked for iphones on wheels. Those mo--ns destroyed the careers of their own parents that's how much money came from automotive to all sorts of industries.

Farley took a subtle dig at Hackett - claiming his layoffs would target the right people unlike the past layoff.
But we all know how Farley proclamations go - remember him throwing Hendrichs under the bus claiming launches would be flawless when he was in charge LMAO

I love how executives assume what engineers know and don’t know. They will for sure layoff folks that can be transferred to EV. They just want lower income liability upon P&L.

The CEO is correct! Lean up, reduce work statements, cut purchased services, cut agency, cut workers! Ford needs to fund EV and not worry about cutting deep. This is their shot. Make it count... sorry for all you career types who just work from home and collect a huge paycheck and do very little per hour. Purge this nonsense!

The automaker plans to spend $50 billion in the coming years so Ford can pump out 2 million electric vehicles a year by 2026

Lets do some simple math...$50B/2M = $25000

Toyota and Honda are laughing their way to the bank with their Hybrids.

If Ford is going to lay out that kind of money no wonder we are in a ship load of trouble.

Well now . . . we simply MUST include EVERYONE all the time for EVERYTHING (ESG), so what did he expect ? Instead of having one qualified person for the JOB - we hire 7 partially qualified people to fit the cultural mold being sold/forced by the government in the form of not only bailouts, but simply allowing the Ford family to keep their estates and servants, etc. (that's called fascism). Ford will obey, and you will PAY !
