Thread regarding United Healthcare layoffs

I hope we are done for now at least till Oct in C&S

First, I’m sorry for the folks who were cut and really needed the job. I genuinely hope everyone affected finds something else quickly, ideally a much better job at a decent company. I hope this is over, not because I care about keeping my job here, but because the job market is an exhausting, horrible place right now. I just need a bit more time!

I agree, living in constant fear working here of being laid off is exhausting in and of itself. Let alone the prospect of having to go looking for a job.

@2tj Please remember that there is no such a thing as "safe" when it comes to job stability. In most states across the U.S., employers can terminate you for any reason. They can say they don't like your hair, and fire you.. It is unfortunate, but true.. I totally understand the fear you feel right now. I too had survivor guilt after the April layoffs but it is much better now. Please allow yourself the time and grace to recover. You just don't know what tomorrow holds, good or bad.. Keep thinking good thoughts.. :-)

I don't know what to think anymore. I swear I'm beginning to have survivors guilt. The fear of the unknown and wondering what is really going on in the c and s members side. Nobody is saying anything people are leaving left and right going to other departments and nobody is replacing them. Will our jobs truly be safe. Why won't anyone come out and say it.

@133 You are mistaken. The top DEI are unqualified white men hired by their friends as people managers.

@133 I can assure you that I am not spineless and I just happen to be caucasian.. Why throw out the race card???? Let me guess, you got laid off and you don't know why.?? Maybe take a look at your last couple of reviews.. Were you all 5's.? I'm guessing not.. But I was..

@we Sadly it's the truth though they kept the spineless and DEI played a role as well notice very few white people were kept.

I'm sorry but to say that only good people get laid off is ridiculous. I know many good Advocates that were laid off in April; however, I also know of many that were kept on. We will never know the criteria used and who made the decisions. But to insinuate that only weak, sub par people were kept on, is insulting and not true!!

@be Well said. There is a pattern of letting the ones go that have a backbone and brought the truth to light. Those people were the good ones with integrity. I wish them all the best.

Can someone be more specific about which C&S teams were affected? I've heard nothing - probably a good thing.

@OP

I’m heartbroken for the people who were just let go. Many of them were talented, driven, and relied on this job not just for a paycheck, but for stability and purpose. I hope they find something far better, at a place that values them fully.

I’m struck by something that’s getting harder to ignore: A lot of the people being cut are also the ones who asked hard questions. The ones who raised concerns. The ones who spoke up when things weren’t quite right.

It raises an uncomfortable but important question:
Are we laying off headcount—or conscience, and for what?

When accountability becomes expendable, when integrity is seen as friction, when speaking up shortens your tenure—that’s not strategy that’s caustic erosion.

To those still here and holding on: I see you. And to those who were let go for doing the right thing—I hope the next place you land sees you as a strength, not a threat.

We deserve better.
