Thread regarding IBM layoffs

IBM is dead as a culture

Let's face the truth. IBM is dead as a culture. The pride in the company is at an all time low. The loyalty and commitment to the company at an all time low. It's every man and woman for themselves. And the sense of a greater purpose is seriously missing. Good luck with this mission about culture.

Remember when saying you worked for IBM was something to be proud of? How long has it been since that was true for most of us? I don't have an exact answer, but it's been a while. Nobody cares anymore because this is no longer a company that deserves to be cared about.

I still have good memories working for IBM. I did see changes occurring while I was there.
The same we must work harder with less, that all companies administer. I found that if you worked and did your job as required the company was very fair. I saw many people there that did nothing and got paid as much as those who were qualified and working hard. So I don’t blame Ibm for trying to stay in business and removing some of the excess fat. So I take these kind of crying sessions on here as those who are being found out for not being what they said or keeping up with the demand. Most badmouth Ibm without working for anybody else or lacking experience in the real world. Those Who are enjoying their careers and pay won’t be posting here complaining. Read between the lines like with everything else.

There is no such thing a no culture. There is always a culture. Based on Westrum's model, it must be a Pathological (Power-oriented):

  • Low cooperation
  • Messengers get shot
  • Responsibilities shirked
  • Bridging discouraged
  • Failure leads to scapegoating
  • Novelty crushed

If you are psychopath, power hungry, back-stabbing POS it's a very good environment!

@wli -- it's beyond a culture of fear: it's a culture of brass knuckle-adorned iron-fisted tyranny.

Too much wokeness, too much affirmative action/diversity special treatment. They don't care about skills and knowledge anymore, just making sure they raise the virtue signal flag high enough.

Agree with the comments in this thread... IBM is NOT the company to work for anymore.

I stopped telling people I work for IBM. The age discrimination and constant resource actions are well known. I have had many people laugh at me when I told them I work for IBM. The company is a disgrace!

Way too much nepotism to have a decent work culture.
People are defeated and could care less about anything now.
Great job, but my wife got the job in the end.
Get that smile going now (-:

I disagree with this. The culture is alive and well at IBM - the culture of Fear. Whether its fear of constant layoffs, the fear of executive management hiding behind us while flogging us with more work and less coworkers, or the newest culture of fear - the population of employees who have an unhealthy fear of unvaccinated people (and apparently their own shadows) who seem to be driving King Arvind's "jabs for jobs" edict. Why vaccinated people are so scared - since they're vaccinated already and also wearing those useless masks so they're "double protected" from their unreasonable fear - is beyond me, but they're just adding to the culture of fear that is IBM. Oh and before the vaxholes start - yes, I am fully vaccinated with this useless vaccine.

I hate this company with a passion. I will be using them for a paycheck and experience in my new position to gain what I need for the resume, then I'm out. Too many foolish people in executive management, and too many "woke" lemmings beneath them.
