Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Good luck all!

Looks like we will start hearing on Tuesday and I am cautiously optimistic. I had discussions with all 3 (1 owner had two jobs I applied for) job owners and was told I would be on the short lists for each. I hope that means I will be the top candidate for one of them.

If not, it has been a great 32 years and I will walk away proud of my career and wish those who stay the very best of luck.

Stay safe out there!

To the A-holes,

I got the call and still have my same job. Hope you deadwood losers enjoy the unemployment line.

This is not meant for the decent people who post here looking for a little information or a kind word from the savages. I wish you the best of luck.

@rls+17CYP6PV,
You are certainly correct in that I paid no attention in public school and have not risen as high as I might have if circumstances had been different. I blame no one (including myself) for retiring as a PSG 22. In fact, I am quite happy about it.

There are a lot more people who retire from this company with lower PSG's, and better attitudes. Why is it that you call people "deadwood losers" when you are in the same boat as the rest of us?

Tuesday? I heard my news today. Why Tuesday? Who said anything about that? I'm pretty sure there is no exact date for notification, it's just this week from the intuitively obvious reasoning. No one "set" a date for notifications.

I think someone forgot to pay attention in public school and had to pay for it later in life. We don't need to hear from any more butthurt deadwood losers on this site, we have enough thanks. It's your own fault if you're only a 22 psg after all that time, no one else's. Good luck finding another job after this, clean your soiled pantyhose and brush off the resume.

Well A-hole, I started as O&M, then moved to salary 10 years ago and am currently a 22 psg. I think that is pretty good for a high school drop out, GED holding working man. You do know the world is full of people who are not engineers, right?

While you were messing your diapers, I was working 12 hour days in a refinery to feed and clothe a family of 4. While you were wasting your daddy’s money in college, I was teaching Angolans how to stay alive in a liquified natural gas plant.

You can take your condescending comments and use them to fill out your unemployment application when we terminate your butt.

I’m more concerned you’ve been in the industry for 32 years and still a PSG 24 or lower....

Wow, nice post about WTF was I doing for 32 years. No wonder Chevron does this occasionally. Need to get rid of the jerks.

I could retire but I don't want to because I love my job and really like the company. It is a great position to be in.

lol if after 32 years you arent set then what the f— were you doing all this time. I have 10 years in this company and need 10 more to retire comfortably but could probably make it work with 5 more. Im in O+M and wish I could get an offer. this industry is a dying dog, regardless of who is in office

OP here. It was the job owners that said I was on the short list, not my rep. Probably makes no difference, but it was 3 different people so that should be 4 chances to win.

After 32 years with the company, your situation is vastly different with folks who have been in the industry say less than 10 years. Most likely your kids are grown up, you have paid your mortgage or close to pay it off. You have saved and invested enough to sustain similar life style for few more years until land a job and finally you will get full 1 year of salary if not selected, the other folks are not in the same boat as you are. I wish everyone good outcome, and hopefully we all end up in better positions within a year from now. It is stressful and difficult times and it will not get better until maybe mid next year.

Worse case the OP has 32 years so if left standing just gotta turn it into the best case....

Being on the short list really means nothing. I’ve been told that multiple times where I didn’t get the job. I think it is a way if saying thanks for applying and give you the warm and fuzzies. Some PDC reps will tell you that about all jobs.

If you don’t get the job, it really doesn’t matter.
