Thread regarding Honeywell International Inc. layoffs

Be sure to claim unemployment today

Last day of the week to make sure you don't miss the first week of unemployment. The no first week unemployment rule has been suspended for now by federal government.
Don't let any fear of Honeywell using it against you ?if? there are layoffs coming. They will do it anyways if it saves a buck.
Get what is truly legally yours just as Honeywell uses any legal means to avoid taxes, regulations etc.
Do as Honeywell does and grab what you can while you can.

All those who have done it comment on your state and if it was accepted and any tips.

At least in Arizona, for salaried employees, it appears that the company reports that you "worked" from Mon-Sun, hence, even if you did no work on Sunday, therefore you've just happened to work one day during the claim week (defined as Sun - Sat) and therefore have to report your earnings. Ahhh, there's the rub … what were your earnings for the Sunday you did not actually work? Can't be $0, because the system won't let you enter $0 (min is $1). I guess you could enter $1 and say you earned it begging on the street corner on Sunday, not at the company, and if there is a discrepancy between what you reported and what the company reported (if they even report earnings), then you could argue that you didn't work for the company on Sunday, therefore you had no earnings from them. Wonder what kind of trouble that would stir up. LOL
Certainly appears that the one-week-at-a-time furlough strategy is intended to avoid paying unemployment, at least in Arizona. Not surprising really. Wonder if this same strategy is used in other states.

In Arizona and was filling out the weekly claim and it was saying I worked on Sunday, March 28th (box checked for me) and asking what I was paid.. anyone knows how to handle this? Was furloughed from Monday 12:00am on the 29th to Sunday 11:59 am 4/5?

I was part of the white privilege group, who was furloughed first. I registered for unemployment last week and filed my unemployment claim here in AZ this morning (Sunday). Very easy straight forward process. Took less than 10 min for both steps. Enjoyed the time off. Green group, you are on deck. (I know.. it's not easy being green) Enjoy your time off.

Here is the problem... it was very clear that we were furloughed from Monday, March 30th at 12:00 am to Sunday, April 5th at 11:59 pm. Unemployment claims are for a week from Sunday, March 29th through Saturday, March 4th... So officially we were still employed on Sunday, March 29th with unemployment week begins. Pretty clever of Honeywell huh? Unbelievable

I'm in Arizona. I submitted an application for unemployment early this week, but have to wait until this Sunday (4/5) to file the claim for benefits for this week. Will see how it goes.
