Why would you stay here any longer?

It’s never been ideal, at least not since I’ve been working here, but it was at least bearable at the time. I don’t even know anymore why I stayed here for so long, but I guess I was content enough not to complain and I was too lazy to change things.
People stay in companies because they are satisfied with pay, some like the atmosphere, the flexibility of work, insurance, vacation days... and dxc has very little to offer. In fact, I am trying hard to remember any thing that is worth staying here for.

We all got offered a package, it was a no brainer. Absolutely no reason to stay at a company that doesnt care for their employees. Promises improvements, but delivers nothing positive and just takes away travel, christmas meals, team building activities etc. The account I worked for is in crisis now, so many have left.

I stay because it is easy. No expectations, no deliverables, no accountability. I have no grand allusions of making a difference or accomplishing any goals. I just put in ~30 hours per week, draw my reasonably decent pay check, and go home and enjoy my real life. DXC is a welcome enabler to my life of ease.

I'd agree with Slime to some degree about unreformed middle management.

There definitely are some old skool holdouts there and their actions and presence drag the business down.

Equally though, if you look at the organisational structure (and everyone can, there are multiple places where you can see it available to you), you will see several real weak points:

1) Highly paid "directors" with no hierarchy beneath them - directing nothing
2) Other people at the first layer of management with 200+ reports. How are you managing that number of people? You are achieving nothing but chaos. You certainly are not delivering direction.

I left three months ago, after two years service. I'd planned to leave over a year ago, but decided I should give 'new Mike' the chance to improve things. Frustrating, because I know 'new Mike' has been doing a lot to try to turn DXC around. Now, I know based on his time at Accenture that 'new Mike' is a highly competent and experienced CEO. So, what's gone wrong??

  1. Just before 'old Mike' left, he made probably the worst and deepest round of cuts in DXC's history. This did enormous repetitional damage with clients and staff, and saw a massive drop in revenue as a result. This led to further cuts, with subsequent damage to reputation and revenue... and that's carried on because DXC manages workforce based on Book To Bill, so is cutting staff before the business declines, not when the effects are felt. And so the cycle continues.
  1. The layers below the c-suite don't want to play the new way. This runs deep, at every layer of management. They're making the right noises, but not performing the right actions. This is further damaging DXC. The answer here is going to have to be brutal. Mid-senior management has to come in line, or continue damaging the company. Worst case is that this layer will have to be removed and replaced with new management who will work Mike's way.
  1. Building on (1). DXC has frequently cut active delivery teams, to the point where service can't be delivered. Those teams need to be built back up immediately to stop further reputational damage.
  1. Charge rates. This is another one of the fundamental problems. The day rate that DXC charges to clients is too low. I joined from a competitor, and took a good pay increase (c.30%) to join. But the day rate that DXC charged to clients for me was more than 40% lower than my old day rate. That's not going to make a great margin for DXC. It's not easy to increase prices for existing clients, but where DXC is winning new business the day rates and charges need to be higher if the company wants to make profits and avoid cuts.

I left..paid off..got another job.. took me a few years..now 15k GBP better off salary plus a bonus that actually gets paid and good benefits.

Oh, actually appreciate my work.

First chance, take a pay off and move on.

If you stay..do not moan... your decision end of day.

@wof+19xJWkIc regarding interviews, I resigned last week, the interview process can be thorough, but I would wager lots of DXC staff will be exceptionally 'rounded' - and that is very attractive to employers. Along as you have core skills (whatever your discipline) performing multiple roles @ DXC will equip you well. Get your free AWS/Azure/Agile certs and get out there! Well over half of my ex-colleagues are doing exactly that.
