Open-office JAX

Why!?! Why are they still constructing the open office layout in Jax?! How do folks at other sites feel about this reserved seating in an open floor plan? This just seems crazy after what we dealt with the past 2 years. Are people not concerned about this close seating/open floor where we have a new seat near random people daily? I’m so confused as to how and why this is still happening.

Open-plan offices don’t just ki-l productivity and privacy. They also are linked to low job satisfaction, commitment to one’s job, and employee retention. An open-plan office has also been found to increase employee’s feelings of dehumanization. This feeling of dehumanization was tied to feelings of losing individuality, abandonment by the employer, and having to work in a forced environment.

There is evidence that if employees are stressed out and experiencing higher levels of anxiety and depression, open-plan offices create even more distractions than usual. Consider that many employees will be returning to work after the most difficult time of their lives. There is already evidence that people of all age groups are experiencing depression, anxiety, and sui-idal thoughts at a higher rate than before the pandemic The age group whose mental health has been most affected by the pandemic? Millennials. Why place employees in a work environment that exacerbates stress levels?

More BS from the bank. To get us back they told us there would be assigned seats with no more sharing workspace. Testing of all unvaxxed employees. They threw it all out the window. Now you'll share a desk with typhoid Mary just to get your $$ and hope not to get sick and die.

No assigned desks in Plano is the goal in some groups, pick a spot and work, somehow make it feel like this place is “family”

Have no idea about technology in Plano. But it looks like it is set up to look more like a 24/7 operation. 1st, 2nd, 3rd shifts. Everyone that say they are bringing back to the office won’t fit on the campus.

@wrq+1gHxx2pn do you know more detail about ”technology” use at Plano? Are they opening up to Addison technology workers?

It's hilarious because the Bank thinks the open space plan promotes teamwork and collaboration but it's the exact opposite. I'm located in an office with an open space plan and everyone has their ear buds in and you can hear a pin drop in the place. There is no talking/ collaborating whatsoever and everyone is annoyed and wants their privacy. I'm sure it's all money related and these kinds of layouts are probably cheaper then the cubicle layouts. The Bank will try to sell you on the collaboration garbage but I'm sure it's all a lie. Typical BOA.

Half and half in Plano. Preparing to turn it into technology and call center. That place will be buzzing 24/7. That’s the reason for the solar panels.

A few Chicago offices reverted back to open floor plan as of last week. Most have been staying where assigned - for those that actually do go in.
