Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Who here is getting less immediate cash payout under TVC?

The math depends on previous vs current bonus level and also previous cash vs LTC splits, of course. But I figure there is a significant sized group of senior staff and mid-manager level people that come out worse by this.

They were never clear about exactly how TVC and the (let's assume 80/20 split at the initial level) would work. I was under the impression that the first $50k might be in cash regardless and only the portion above $50k would be subject to 80/20. But it looks like it's the whole thing.

Assuming the same grand total last year and this year:

Someone who received $52k cash last year and this year, with no LTC, is getting $41.6k in cash. Worse.

Someone who received $37k cash with $15k LTC ast year and this year, is getting $41.6k in cash. Better.

So who here is worse off because of TVC?

I don’t know @1sni+1f3IHbjk, you tell me which one is correct. I’m only some slacker that helped create the new comp structure so I mean, clearly you know more than me. And in the event you got more than 54 in cash this year when that’s what you got last year, your manager is clearly as clueless as you are and is definitely on a list somewhere.

Hey @1ahr+1f3IHbjk what's your problem? I don't see any complaint by OP. And it's probably you that clearly doesn't understand the program. @wtl+1f3IHbjk had a good answer that makes sense and seems accurate. The cash protection thing is fair given the late change. It's obvious OP didn't know about it otherwise he/she/they/it wouldn't have asked in the first place.

Last year I got 54 cash and 10 RSR. That's 64 in case that escapes you, too.
This year I'm getting 70 total. 56 + 14.
Your way, it should be 66 + 4. Or 54 + 16 for this year only.
"CLEARLY" both methods would put more cash in my pocket than last year. Only one is correct. Trick question: which one?

I'm not gloating and I'm not complaining, at least not here in this post. Maybe I'm a lucky slacker. Maybe this is market rate for my responsibilities. Irrelevant. Just facts and information sharing.

You clearly don't understand the bonus structure this year............

  1. No one was supposed to get less cash bonus than last year (there was literally direction of that) - everyone was to be "whole" this year with the less in cash go-forward
  2. Everyone now gets up to $50k in cash - anything above $50k is where RSRs come into play. This ensures standardization so people don't have situations like you describe above going forward.
  3. Honestly, anyone who is on here complaining about such high dollar amounts is disgusting........and this is coming from someone who fits into that "high dollar amounts" bonus category. It's tasteless when you're complaining about bonuses that high. Good luck finding another company that does that so take your complaints about bonuses (when they're that high) elsewhere.

@yzj+1f3IHbjk It’s attainable but not with that attitude. Plenty of high paying jobs in this company that with a decade experience in it you could hit 6 figure bonus. Go get them

My cash allocation actually went up. LTI/RSR payout amount was exact same as last year but cash up 20%.

More cash/less stock than last year. Total bonus comp up by about 10%.
I like this better. Less stock means I leave less unvested behind if I find a better spot.

this year, there was something called "cash protection". if the new tvc split would result in less cash than prior year given the same total bonus (cash + stock), then the cash would = prior year. So if for example someone got a 50K bonus all cash last year and 50K bonus this year, new TVC rules would say they get 40K cash and 10K stock this year. but under "cash protection" that person would get 50K cash instead of the 40/10 split. this is for one year only.

So to answer OPs question - for this year, nobody is worse off in terms of cash. Next year - the protection is gone and the split applies.

So ummmm.....I'd LOVE to have a bonus that big. Frankly, 50k bonus is so far out of my reach its a mirage. I'd not care if it was 40k plus 20k in stock. Bring it on.....
