I don’t see my role as a job. It’s a 1 year contract gig.

… it may or may not get renewed - and/or I might decide to leave. Eases some anxiety because I won’t allow myself to be attached.

Never stop looking for the next job

This is the advice I followed during my 35 years in O&G as an upstream engineer. In the end, it worked out very well.

Add the hot desk situation and yes, you’re correct. EM isn’t a place to build a career, it’s temporary and transient. In and out.

@wvh+1is9JNQn Nope. I like the work I do. I have no loyalty to EM though bc I know they won’t be loyal to me. This is my mindset due to the ranking system.

This has been the case for most people in the industry for long time. I assume from your comment that this has just recently come around to you and that you don’t much like it.
