TM Mail "8 ways to deal with inflation"

In a period of WF laying off workers and scarce raises, how tone deaf is it to send this email?
Highlights include: "Use your credit card points (translation - spend more money that you don't have to pay less elsewhere)" and "Increase your income with a side gig" (you know when you aren't working 60+ hours a week. sleep and family life is for the weak).

Here's one they overlooked: Demand your employer pay your better.

@wzi The country has to have debt in order to issue dollars, without national debt there would be no dollars. Go beg for a clue because you obviously can't afford one.

We really need to solve the problems, now. Bring down the national debt. Do you really want your grandkids to blame their future on you, grandpa Bob? If you really don’t want to go down in history as a loser, you better make sure that your grandkids and great grandkids have a few bucks Inheritance. After that, who cares. Your great, great grandkids may all be nonbinary BIPOC.

@wzi+1jiOhEew Not sure if you noticed there was a Nobel Prize just handed out for printing money to save the economy. Listen to the latest Slate Money podcast to understand how of that hadn’t been done, the whole worldwide economic system would have collapsed.

@gam has no clue. The country has been in debt ever since. Bring back the gold standard. The government should stop printing money.

@axx is calling for destroying the world economy so they can feel good about a shiny piece of metal being more valuable. No thanks.

Inflation is the increase of supply of currency. Prices are a symptom. The best ways to deal with inflation:

  1. Return to the gold standard. Connect currency and money again.
  2. Orderly elimination of fractional reserve banking, the system by which commercial banks such as ours create the vast majority of money supply through debt issuance.
  3. Avoid central bank digital currencies.

They just can’t stop themselves from sounding like a bunch of “insensitive and unconsciously” out-of-touch elitists.

Turn fear of inflation in to opportunity by following these 8 steps:

  1. Have your Maid buy your Wagyu steaks and Maine lobsters in bulk to save on rising grocery costs.
  2. Renegotiate your membership at the Country Club.
  3. Have your Personal Assistant plan your summer European trips in advance.
  4. Allocate your accounts wisely. The wealthy should never be required to pay taxes.
  5. Reduce gas consumption by driving your Lexus Hybrid for errands, rather than your gas-guzzling Rolls Royce.
  6. Re-evaluate buying that second beach house during this time of scary belt-tightening.
  7. Increase your income by having your BOD give you a 20% pay increase.
  8. Reduce laundry costs by staying away from people with less money than you - they smell.
