Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

The end of workplace loyalty

Excellent article that rings true.

In the two years I've been writing about Americans' changing relationship to work, there's one theme that's come up over and over again: loyalty. Whether my stories are about quiet quitting, or job-hopping, or leveraging a job offer from a competitor to force your boss to give you a raise, readers seem to divide into two groups. On one side are the bosses and tenured employees, the boomers and Gen Xers. Kids these days, they gripe. Do they have no loyalty? On the other side are the younger rank-and-file employees, the millennials and Gen Zers, who feel equally aggrieved. Why should I be loyal to my company when my company isn't loyal to me?

IMHO, LOYALTY has been a one way street for at least a couple of decades. Simply put, the company will love you until they don't.

So, it is imperative for each individual employee to figure out the sweet spot where you think or get the vibes that a company is no longer in love with you and get the h3ll out before you end up taking it up your keyster.

Sad but true summary. Employees aren’t loyal. Transactional relationship. Just accept it and watch out for yourself. Always be ready and looking for your next job.

Exxon has been cutthroat career development politics for four decades. In the last two years, the unhealthy politics has increased exponentially, especially in the HC10 countries where we need to further reduce headcount.

Gen Xers are sick and tired of being treated like disposal single use plastic, more so than younger ones, as the elders are completely bypassed for every opportunity.

Keep taking the money until you find whatever suits your value system elsewhere.

LMAO imagine being loyal to a company...
it's a transaction, nothing more...
once the company doesn't provide what you need, you leave

the company will do the same to you
