GBS strategy outside of Enterprise

OK GBS (non-enterprise) You now can see where you are going to land

@xio don’t think you’ve worked with Wipro. They have just as much bureaucracy as GBS, if not more. The difference is the bureaucracy is all based in India and there is very few staff in the US/Europe. When you are carrying thousands of Partners, Director’s, and VPs based in India it isn’t adding much to your overhead. When you have a bloated structure in the West and bloat in India like GBS does, it blows your rates. Very simple.

GBS has to lower their labor rates to get competitive Making folks move to Wipro does just that, via trimming the excess. Just look at the management overhead at Wipro vs IBM It’s not even close

If GBS can’t sell IBM Cloud to customers, Wipro sure as hell cant. This is a desperation play.

It sure looks like IBM has made their decisions on how the restructuring will go

GTS = sell it / spin it
GBS = send non-enterprise over to Wipro so GBS rightsized
Cognitive = replace IBM overlap employees with Redhat employees to rightsize
Systems = dump commodity HW (storage and Power) as it’s non-strategic

The result is going to be that at some point IBM does no longer need GBS...
