Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

I expect WF to follow soon enough

Saw this article about how Amazon is no tracking time in office for their corporate employees. My guess is we will have something here sooner than we think.

A "real company" wouldn't waste billions of dollars every year with a guaranteed negative return. Our weak efficiency ratios are the direct result of short-sighted stupidity on the part of HY. It would be incredibly simple to make WF an industry leader is efficiency. But go on telling us how this generations "8 is great" is such a good idea.

WF has absolutely implemented hour tracking, at-least in the NYC metro. I have zero confirmed details of how they do it (ip, badge swipes, etc) but I do know there are difficulties with creating accurate reports. People I know have been flagged for less than 3x8hr days and their managers had to reach out to them. But the individual was actually there for all the time. When they reached out to the report generators they were told to ignore it and it was a known reporting problem with that location.

All that being said, it’s only a matter of time before I’m busted for not RTOing.

“Betrayed”. Hilarious. Tell me you’ve never worked for an actual company without telling me you’ve worked for an actual company. This company is full of grandfathered in babies. Now you’re all sitting around waiting for that awesome 14 month severance package while your stress ulcers eat you away from the inside and your mind rots from your anxiety.

Full disclosure: I was hired full time remote, explicitly told never going to an office yet here I am. And I’ll be more than happy to leave for that cherry picked position when I find it or get sh!t canned because of fake reviews with no severance, whatever.

Haha I was remote for years leading up to the pandemic. I definitely wasn't hired to be in an office. They betrayed so many people with this garbage.

Maybe, but we’ll probably be told in advance about new time expectations before roll-out, just as we were for the 3-day per week tracking. They won’t just start firing people retroactively for not following a directive they hadn’t given yet. Plus they’d probably have to fire a third of the bank for it to not be selective enforcement initially.

They’ll tell us it’s coming, then start giving warnings, and only once the amount of continuing offenders has been reduced to a manageable amount will genuine consequences occur.

In my case, I too was WFH long before COVID and had years of great reviews to prove it worked, but RTO is worse than irrelevant, it harms production, BCP, and as an added "bonus" costs the company more money as well. I have 10 hrs a day on avg I can do company things and be available to peers, managers, and employees. That's it. That's all the time there is. You want me to spend 8 hours working, or 10? You want be available to solve issues and help people 40 hours a week, or 50?

It should be a pretty f$@king simple answer, but HY excels at failure. They waste billions of dollars on useless cr-p and pet projects, and then get mad at us for 'not being efficient'. These clowns give each other millions per year in bonuses, while telling the truly productive people that they don't deserve ANY raise when they get a promotion. They are nothing but incompetent liars and thieves. Complete hacks only focused on the short term and completely obsessed with tanking morale to get people to quit. It's horrendous 'leadership'.

@yaf No, I was hired to do the work required by the job. Being in an office was absolutely irrelevant per the hiring manager. IIRC his words were, "I don't care where you are as long as the work gets done and I can get a hold of you when I need you."

As evidenced by over a decade of remote work with great reviews, an office has no relevance.

That's when you know you work for a horrendous manager. If they are forced enforce this horse S under threat of term, ok, that's one thing, but when it's completely optional and they choose to do it? Yeah, F them. Going to the office is a complete waste of time. And no, that's not what I was "hired to do".

The overlords want their slaves on the plantation for the minimum required hours.

This country is in a death spiral.

Your IP is tracked, so they know how many hours at any location you are working at. It is not communicated widespread, where it is, manager's discretion based on their feelings on the subject for their group. Don't be surprised if the topic is brought up to you, it can be, just manager's discretion on whether to use that info or not. I know this from speaking with someone in IT who advised me on it when I had to leave early one day from in-office.

They are trying, but due to the gutted tech org, bad data hygiene, and poor leadership have mixed results.

That gossip has been floating around since RTO was initiated.
But...
One of my teammates spoke to a colleague from another team who let him know they were just told to be in office 8 hours, 3 days a week.
Since the whole org was not given this directive, can we ASSume some supervisors [not "individual contributors"] are taking it upon themselves to be jerks and micromanage? Maybe.
Just another day pulling the coach for Wells.

likely they are already tracking, just haven't made it known to the rank and file or perhaps even included it on the rto dashboards managers get
