Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

CSBB Location Strategy Update

There was a new communication on 01/19 from Saul titled “brrr…” or something to the effect in Teamworks.

It briefly touched on how “contact centers” and “fraud operations” will not be in scope for the CSBB location strategy, and instead will follow the COO location strategy under Scott Powell (which I have not seen yet).

My understanding was that all CSBB (non-customer facing) roles were in contact centers, so now I am confused about who it really applies to. Thoughts?

“Does anyone know anything about lay offs within Wells Fargo Home Mortgage Collections and Customer Service in California all working remotely?”

It will depend on your LOB and location. I’d recommend searching your LOBs Newsroom for an article about location strategy if one is available. example: CSBB, WIM Newsroom, etc. You may also search your outlook inbox for keywords as sometimes those are sent as LOB specific emails.

How do we know that COO location strategy under SP is the WIM location strategy? Was this stated explicitly in a news briefing in WIM news or in COO newsroom? I am just trying to find that information to share with my team. Thanks to anybody who can help! I’ve tried searching myself and can’t find that exact information.

“The blowback from CSBB announcement made leadership revisit schedule for rollout of others. This is the reason for delayed comms.”

Proper communication would have been completely synchronized across all LOBs with an Email at the same date and time for ALL. Then LOB town halls or AMA follow up.

Just reviewed it today - found the link from 1/18/24

WIM leadership has identified eight core markets for non-client facing positions on a go-forward basis. Core markets are:
Charlotte, NC
Dallas, TX
Minneapolis, MN
New York, NY - Requires WIM CFO approval for hire
Phoenix, AZ
St. Louis, MI
Salt Lake City, UT

WIM has designated one or two administrative buildings to serve as hub locations for non-client facing employees (they do not provide where?)

WIM will also continue to have trust employees in 6 trust centers.

Handful of designated Enterprise speciality markets where WIM non-facing employees currently work. WF will continue to support space to accommodate employees in those markets (again does not say where?)

*does not apply to WIM client facing roles

The blowback from CSBB announcement made leadership revisit schedule for rollout of others. This is the reason for delayed comms. Scrambling due to poor planning. In short, a cluster. (Lots of whitewashing and deflection going on in attempt to cover up the cluster.)

For reference, SVB's 1/19/2024 Teamworks article is entitled, "My Week: Brrr... it's cold outside!" and is under Consumer, Small & Business Banking section of Teamworks (for those who have CSBB default view).

“COO location strategy under SP is the WIM location strategy, released last week.”

Can you share how you know this? Is this truth or rumor?

If you look up the CSBB organization on Teamworks you will several groups in CSBB that are not part of the contact centers, examples: Small Business, Affluent, Marketing, Customer Experience and Growth....

A location strategy for operations is ridiculous on its face. Many things are located where they are because they need to be customer adjacent. Is Hudson Yards going to relo the customers? And why should the admin support roles that revolve around those locations move to far away admin buildings full of people that these employees have nothing to do with? It's a joke.

My understanding is the bank is undergoing a “Move The Line” activity in early Feb where businesses will be split between Operations and Non Operations. Contact centers, while not in person face to face are considered as Operations. Operations will all fall under SP in COO. So it makes sense those groups will fall under the COO location strategy.

As usual, lousy WF “collaboration” and communication on the location strategy announcements across the entire bank.

Thank you for sharing this. Can you give guidance on how to locate the article in Team Works? I am under CSBB in Workday technically, so I don’t think it shows right away on the front page. Do you have a title for the article?
