Out of 866,148 confirmed cases there have only been 133,680 closed cases. Out of those cases 48,868 have died and only 84,812 have reportedly recovered.

This is an unprecedented event in human history and they appear to be downplaying it.

People don't die immediately. They die at some time t after they get the virus. That time t has been calculated at an average of 8 days.

Therefore the correct equation is (# of deaths) / (# of cases from 8 days ago). So really the death rate is higher since the denominator gets smaller.

I know it makes your point more poignant, but you are still an id–t because you can't even do a google search for how to calculate mortality rate or even be bothered to search the GD site you provided. The equation is right there under the death rate link dip s-it
