Thread regarding UnitedHealth Group Inc. layoffs

We're NOT hiring (you).

A bit of a backstory, I worked in M&R for 12 years under several directors, business managers and supervisors. I saw other advocates and team leads leave for one reason or another in that time; turnover is and always has been high, we all get that but there are more than a few that left because they felt that sickness in their stomach over poor leadership.

I want to make it known to one in particular that we are not hiring (you), and rest assured, I won't name shame here. You're welcome.

We absolutely do not bring in management candidates who make decisions based on emotions, who we like and don't like, or set traps for those that you want to push out the door. We also won't be promoting anyone from entry-level to a director level within a 4-year timeline without relevant experience and you should consider yourself lucky for the time you've been in the position in which you are.

"Leadership" needs quite the shake-up and while I understand the problems lie much higher than middle management, I also know that many of the core values UHG keeps parading around are displayed exclusively in email signatures amongst "leadership."

You'll be receiving an "unfortunately" email soon and I apologize for anyone that has stuck it out only to be faced with layoffs.

@1a9+1jt1vw5xm, is that tough exterior really crying "help me" on the inside? As in, "help me, even though a bunch of my friends and I nominated each other as service heroes, nothing I do feels good enough and I don't want to get laid off or outcasted because I just started financing a ______."

@vt+1jt1vw5xm, self motivated employees to do what? Change how the company operates? Apply for promotions only to have those positions get handed out to someones friend in Minneapolis?

I 100% only came in for the payday for the last 3 out of 7 years. And so does most of the workforce— want to know why?! Because of leadership. Thats why. 100% because of leadership. Until your jobs are Rif'd or sent overseas that'll continue.

@vt+1jt1vw5xm, who tf do you think you are?! You want us to continue buying in to all your bullsh-t when every other day theres a brand new investigation or round of layoffs just to keep stock prices high? For some of us that have made every interaction matter only to receive zero recognition and met with a new kind of way that we arent meeting an average handle time type of metric— its all bullsh-t, and former hairdressers dont equal director without any relative experience. Ask ANY supervisor that works near this particular individual.

You think you can determine who deserves to work for UHC by who follows all the superficial corporate culture? What about the ones that do have a "why" that they prefer to keep to themselves and not put their life on display? Do they not deserve to be around? And so therefore you bully and encourage an exit? Because they must be a "low-ender" thats only around for a paycheck.

Fu-k you.

  • Literally everyone.

Leadership is strong? Doubtful we'd be in this mess if that were a true statement.

Leadership is strong, but your poor low end employees who come and work for your paychecks being your main goal don’t really belong here.

The company needs self-motivated employees.

You just described every leader I ever worked for in M&R. It sounds like you’re passing on a great fit!

Attitude is just as important, if not more, than actual talent.

if you work for 12 years under many directors, but you never made director. Well, I would have figure out to leave after about 4-5 years of not making director.
