Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Too much disruptive change

To me it seems like there is far too much large scale change going on thats disrupting our work. I get it things change but we have been having constant major changes since 2020. The employees need a break and some time to not have to worry about rhe next big layoff being cooked up. This is no way to retain and attract new employees in an industry that is already struggling in this area.

These large scale changes are 99% talk and bluster. Deep down, nothing really changes except we get saddled with more useless reports and forms to complete.

@zasr: Agreed. If one felt it was really change for the better it would be one thing. Instead it feels like managers just rearranging the deck chairs: A lot happening on the surface and nothing to the direction of the ship.

I completely agree with the OP. Since joining in 2015 through 2021 has a FS, I’ve gone through five major layoff/divestments during that that time with 6 months to a year of being in limbo every time. It’s just been a constant whirlwind of employees and managers coming and going with all new teams every two years on the same lease

Allegedly Transform to Win was going to allow us to win in any environment and be the end to massive layoffs. We'll see if they were telling the truth.

@rjn, agree. MW has shown no business or growth initiative at all, just diversity and layoffs. Besides, layoffs and reorganizations are excellent smoke screens to pull attention away from underperformance and lack of a coherent strategy, both hallmarks of the MW era. If you want an analogy look back at Texaco in the 1990's.

I am going to have to request that I have my comfort squirrel, Rascal, to be by my side at the office for me from here on out to be able to carry out my duties without undue stress. Without that I don't feel that I can perform adequately and reach any appropriate level of work/life balance. It's impossible to exist, much less work under the current conditions and I may not be able to carry on.

Next year for sure. I heard that the MWTC targets for assets are impossible to achieve due to ....... good excuse for a good round of layoffs around CTC and other places. Tighten that belt and hope for the best. Mikey just got an extension so he can flex them muscles!

He’s the Axe Man baby! All you deadwood, work-from-home whiners look out. If your job can be down from home, it can be done from India. And after that it can be done by AI. Let the layoffs begin!

MW does not care about employees. To him, they’re a dime a dozen. He’s focused on short term costs, and short term stock and IMO, putting the long term company at risk.

Yes, that is totally true. We should all have personal safe spaces to work and be given any comforts that we would normally have at home and not ever be disturbed especially if we are irritated or upset about anything, work related or not. A special room with soft music, nice soothing colors and yoga mats would not hurt. And maybe herb tea with sippy cups.

While I agree, layoffs are in the air, it's the only thing that MW knows. It was the layoffs in downstream and his political acem that got him the CEO. Within 6 months he will pull the major reorg (layoffs) handle.
