Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

What do you think ?

I am hearing from different managers that we have about 35k employees too many and something bigger than what they call ACT and SET is in motion.i heard these were names for big layoffs. I would be bummed to leave Intel just when I think we will be winners soon. I work way harder than people here for 20plus years. Do you think I will be safe by working hard?

I heard a similar rumor of layoffs coming in October. I know McK has been sending out “optimization” surveys. I also heard a rumor that 11 percent of DCAI took a voluntary separation package offered recently.

@1bis, of course they are going to stay around. It’s extremely hard to get hired the older you get. If they aren’t at least 65 then they need to pay for healthcare out of their pocket. There is a lot of age discrimination going on in the job market.

@zdy agreed. I am just barely a boomer but I have had more than enough and am leaving this round. The people older than me who have more money than me clinging like rats to a ship are embarrassing.

There are plenty of DEI people being let go. If you've got a hammer, find the nail!

Why would you cling to a ship that will clearly sink?

Ironic thing is when I pulled this page up, you know how it loads an add page first right of the bat, it was an Intel we are hiring advertisement.

If it is truly another ACT, your manager will have zero say!! HR determined the list based on various calculations, so it won't matter. If you are in a group to get cut, that is how it will be decided.
Do your best not to worry. It will be okay regardless. If it happens, you will find another job and most likely a better one with more stability and peace of mind! This is going to go on for quite some time at Intel. It's not personal so don't let it get you down. If you are doing a good job, be proud of that! 😁

Make your manager look bad and id--t before they let you go

If we weren’t already working hard, we are targets. Involuntary cuts are generally done along the lines of previous performance, though, to be sure, there is most certainly a sense of favoritism/protectionism at play. If you think working harder over the next few weeks is your ticket, it is simply too late.

If you are checking the DEI box regardless of your abilities you will be fine. Intel wont be but you can milk this bi--h to the bitter end

Business in the US right now does not work by merit.

Are you a threat to someone else?
Do kiss the behind of the appropriate people?
Do you fulfill a DEI requirement?
How much do you cost?
Were you born in the US?

economics always wins. intel cannot afford its employees. its paying them with government and loan shark (private equity) money. its broke. 35k culling probably a little low for whats needed for a $55b company (and dropping).
