Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

June 11th?

I'm still trying to figure out why Wilson/Upper Management decided to announce the layoffs on that June 11th call. What was the benefits to them for doing so? Did they think it was going to go smoother & happen faster? Did they think people would quit en mass? Was it a mistake (since the recording disappeared)? I know I'm a grunt and not the smartest guy in the room, but can't wrap my head around it. Some business major fill me in!

LOL @ the "calibrated" comment by @zlj+169hv3EA. You surely are a longtime Allstater.

Wondering if the company meeting tomorrow with Shapiro will tell us anything?

If it came later, people would just complain that they didn't have time to prepare resume and such. I'd rather have a little extra anxiety by knowing, than find out last minute that I'm going to be out of work. I don't really see how anything it early is a bad thing for the employee.

What’s the quote I’m think of? “Never confuse maliciousness with incompetence”.

Nothing that has happened has been a mistake. Every move, from arbitration agreements, to Esurance merging into ALL, communications, town halls, this has all been planned with cost benefit analysis done by a project management team. Down to the minute and time of communications. They have calculated lost productivity, reputational risk, employee attrition. We are a Data Analytics company in the words of TW. It's all been calculated.

IMO they thought the covid was pretty much gone. Little did they know! Their legacy will always be associated with this move. Not a good thing for the younger ones like EB. Tarnished reputations in the industry.

Now if the company was not posting huge profits then something would have needed to be done. But that’s not the case. Then to throw in no layoffs...I really wonder if all these people are on the same page (calibrated)

I personally believe it was a mistake. Think of all the productivity they have lost due to this over the past 6 weeks.

Also notice we haven’t heard a peep from Wilson since that meeting.....
