BS job title changes

It has now been over 6 months since they re-classified job titles to “simplify”. Are we not able to use the title we signed on for? What title would HR give if asked for background ? Feel like this could potentially hurt many folks for career prospects and they don’t even know it. No one ever accepted these job titles.

My job title was changed to something that's way different than the one I hired in as, and is now something that doesn't accurately reflect what I do. On paper it looks like a demotion, but my pay hasn't changed.

Anybody in my situation --> who has a career ahead of them <-- would be well advised to quit.

I'm a few months away from an early retirement so I'm not going anywhere.

Regarding the term “Wussified DEI class”. No need to advertise your small mind.

I doubt an attorney can do anything about just a job title change. As long as it does not violate employment law and you are not in the Wussified DEI class, tough luck.

Favoritism, micromanaging, lack of trust, lack of clarity, hostile and toxic work environment. Owed bonus monies? Tired of the US empire workplace? You can’t trust HR and/or leadership anymore. Go to the attorneys let’s build our case!

Future and other employers place much more emphasis on our job performance than our job title. Job titles vary by name and responsibility from company to company. That's why performance is the key factor.

A few months ago I was assigned a new title. Went from non-exempt to exempt. No pay increase, more responsibilities, all w/out my consent. Ironically, coworkers laid off two weeks ago, so now putting in a ton more hours as an exempt employee- covering staff shortage. All by design I’m sure

I don’t know if this is still the case, but up until no more than 5 years ago - if WFC reassigns you to a a different job where the new work is a certain % or more different than the work of your original job: they are supposed to offer you a package as an alternative. I have a friend whom they did this to, he had an attorney draft a letter, and he got the one year package. This, of course, does not apply to a new position/promotion you apply for. But it is my understanding that WFC cannot take a banker and put them in the mail room even if they pay you the same salary.

Good luck!

job verification is just start and end date. period. there's no "calling" - it's all automated.

If you're that paranoid about it though, all you have to do is put your functional descriptive title first and then in parentheses put the official title. this happens in companies all over, not just WF - and that's how you deal with it.

Yes, happened to me, too. Because customer facing, I kept old job title. I worked hard for that distinction. New job looked like a demotion. No longer there; one of many reasons I chose to leave.

Just do what they do on the other side of the pond, they completely fabricate and lie about what they did at WF. Don't believe me? Go check your former co-worker's LinkedIn profiles.

I worked with a glorified button pusher who only did what other people told them to, yet on their resume claims they were a team lead who managed multiple high-level functions. Also mentioned a whole bunch of tools we don't use.

Another example of the Wells Fargo shitshow.

I have been reorginazed to a completely job function that I applied for. When questioning this move, was told it was part of our existing responsibility.

100% agree. I had a great title that aligned with my career path. A year in they changed it to something totally misaligned with my career path. People said ah that's nothing just change it to whatever you want or change it to what you actually do. But when a 3rd party firm outside this company calls up they just provide your hire and exit date and your last job title. You could run into issues when your resume has the first title and not the new one. To me the HR simplification just made it extremely hard for me to move easily external. A law firm should really look into a class action on this.
