No one is going to have a job anyway with the 100% online push and AI. Pretty soon we will all be out of a job. Everything is going to be frictionless

In March, team members in hybrid roles will have a one-time opportunity to change your designation to remote, with manager approval. We believe strongly in the hybrid model and encourage team members to opt for this classification over remote.

Notice the language 'with manager approval'. Your manager does not have to approve.

@zwm+1r3x79VO not what we're being told. It's manager's discretion. If you live close and the rest of your team is in the office, you'll be required. It was mentioned at a senior leadership meeting this week.

Previous comment so accurate. We’re zombies from overwork burnout at this point. Tired of heroics for no payoff.

distance is NOT the criteria for being remote or not. You people are so dense and lack basic comprehension skills.

the policy is literally laid out in plain english!

At Dan I's all hands this week, it was mentioned that just because you want remote, doesn't mean your manager will approve it if you're within the driving distance. You may want to be remote, but may not be allowed to be remote.

The WFRs may have hurt but they can do the math so can’t have been a surprise. It is all part of the plan.

I generally agree with what you are saying except for the forced attrition. If they wanted that they would not have offered remote. Offering remote is to avoid that stampede out the door.

I think it's more monkey see monkey do management.
All the cool companies are laying off, RTO, blabbing about AI, etc..

Dell is so removed from the real world that management thinks working at dell is grand.
It's become a self-promoting mind-hive of multi-decade Dellaplegics running the show.

To be fair it seems like it’s been a downward spiral of decisions that really culminated with this RTO cliff. It really started with the hiring freeze, leading to no movement of any kind, then layoffs, then more layoffs all with no backfilling (see “hiring freeze”)

So then the people who survived each round of WFR ended up doing WAY more work and not being rewarded beyond Gift Cards and atta boys, that caused massive burnout that most are still suffering from (admittedly myself included.) So they started pitching “Do more with less” and started throwing around phrases like “AI is the FUTURE” but being insanely vague about what that means. Lots of buzzwords and hand waiving. Tell Dell was really ignored and even lied about, to the point where they came out and said “We hear you want to come back to the office!” (Said literally no one I know. Period.)

Which leads us to this quarter. There was rumors of BIG WFR come February. Instead we got the push to Partner First for all storage, this 100% Online Ordering pain AND the RTO? Seems like they wised up and realized morale is at rock bottom (they HAVE to know and just ignore it) because they want more people to quit, it’s true last 2-3 WFR severance payouts have hurt. So… it’s been a process you could say.
