Depends on your experience and what your current pay is. I am/was a grade 12 and was paid very well. I will have a hard time finding similar pay unless I am hired as a Sr. Director or VP at a smaller company. Do not come in under what you want to be paid and think you will quickly right the ship.

You want to join Cisco as a fresh graduate if you are not CS major with a little bit programming experience. It is a great place.
For top notch, you rather join Cisco through a startup, stay there for a few years and join another startup.
If you are on H1 visa, it is a good place for you too.
However, due to annual layoff, it may take a while to get your green card or you may not be able to get one.

It is under way. No word how big the layoff is or who and where is affected, but the tone of the announcement seemed to suggest a major layoff rather than a minor one. Sounds like it all finishes up by end of day tomorrow.

Ok, let’s try this exercise. While trying to touch the roof of your mouth with your tongue, try to vocalize “is this a good time to get a job at Cisco and make lots of money?” LOL!

Leadership quarterly, which was postponed to this week, is now cancelled.
Not a good sign.

"Grade 12 and higher isn't bad, but then again you'll feel the target on you every year around this time. Cisco is a dying giant."

Targets will get shot at with laser sighting in 3 weeks. Good luck.

What do you mean by “lots of money?”

If you’re white, young and a woman and come from an affluent background then Cisco Toronto is the place for you! Enjoy the political game and throwing others under the bus, Cisco Toronto is for you! If they bring a minority it’s the most Uncle Tom MF they could find externally, usually a friend of a VP or someone at the top.

@10caXgNU-1lqk. Well said. Almost all management positions were being filled by Indians, if the promoting manager/director was an Indian. Almost all the Technical Leader positions were filled by Indians if the manager was Indian. Caucasians and other non-Indian ethnic groups were ever given any consideration. I no longer work there but it just to make me really sick to see it day in and day out.

Your odds of getting hired here are greatly reduced if you are not Indian. Even if you are Indian, connections matter. Of course much of the hiring comes from H1Bs who will do whatever s— they are asked in order to win the big prize: a green card. Welcome to indentured servitude in the 21st century.

Does not hurt to be a Brahmin either if you want a leadership role. Caste matters. This may seem confusing to an American but Cisco is really an Indian company with a thin veneer of Americans ruling this grand clusterf—.

So if you want to work for a 3rd world country in the US, please join Cisco, and you can work in Mumbai without ever leaving California.

The people who do well financially at Cisco (and are not VPs) come in through an acquisition. Straight hires don't get very good stock. The retention RSUs post-acquisition are way more generous than anything they give out normally. Go to a start up that Cisco is going to buy. Make more money from Cisco that way.

We have been looking for four resources for over six months. We cant hire top talent because salary is not competitive. Perhaps base salary is somewhat competitive, however lacking or underperforming in stocks compensation.

Most employees lower than VP are considered wage slaves. Cisco pays just enough for food and housing in the Bay Area.

Unless you come on board as a VP of some kind - not a chance.
