I heard from a PDR the IT function offered up their garbage dud of IT managers to fill cross functional UC supervisory roles cause they thought the UC management wouldn't figure it out. Management should toss them back to the IT function and put D&C supervisors to run the show. Can't do a worse job.
D&I, that's why. Need to make the numbers for women in leadership in D&C. That's all the PDC and upper management cares about these days. Hence the question is always asked, "can a female do the job" instead of looking at competencies. Shame.
If they're a joke in the D&C community, why doesn't the VP move them?
Yeah, my old coworkers in UC tell me their Digital & IT managers are a joke in the D&C community. Have not given the community anything that was asked for and make excuses and dumb workplace videos like they have. They make us women look like incompetent managers, and then we wonder why more women aren't in senior manager roles. They should be run off.
@devi- speaking of once-proud function.... just saw an ETC D&C manager post on WorkPlace about the virtual forum or D&C women's conference. They organized a leadership panel. It had your regular D&C leaders and I guess the VP didn't think the digital or IT managers were fit to talk about leadership. They went and asked somebody not even in the function anymore! LOL.
D&C was once a proud function. Now it is a laughing stock. No one respects the groups in UC. Don't lecture the business units about leadership behaviors when you don't have anybody who actually understands our businesses. Don't lecture us about D&I when the behaviors and office locker room jokes in UC are worse than the what's going on in the BU.
Layoffs will be coming soon enough to Chevron. This will be an opportune time to clean house of all the non-productive groups and individual workers.
Think have been parading around telling everyone their bringing the digital train to help D&C. Have not seen anything to date. My superintendent said that group is a laughing stock, and to pay them no mind.
UC s—s. Their management has been telling our Ops LT and us folks in the field they will help populate a morning report for years now. I haven't seen them do anything yet aside from lecturing about putting the D&I in digital. All talk, no accountability. My BU D&C manager would give whoever manages that group should get a 2- on their last PMP to teach them a lesson!

can psg 26s be put on a performance improvement plan? it's a travesty that the upstream general manager has not removed the IT manager yet and given the group someone else.

You should be aware that 10 to 15% of company personnel have been digitally selected for the layoff list. Announcements are forthcoming.
Au contraire, digital will grow and embed in businesses while we figure how to slash drilling days dramatically and probably OC to be clearly best in class. Digital will reduce all the games played to find one terrible offset well and call it the benchmark. Computer will analyse all offsets and establish stretch target days. Accountability will shift focus from safety to days. You will look back on the past as the dark ages of drilling.
Reorg will take care of d&c digital.
