Thread regarding Sears layoffs

How many Sears and Kmart stores are left 2020?

How many Sears stores will remain open in 2020?

5, 10, 15?

Great list on remaining Kmarts. Those densely located will surely close. I cannot confirm this but I heard a new Kmart opened in CA and a new store will replace the super profitable store in Minneapolis that is blocking roadway in the city. Lampert would like the City to pay Millions buying out the 30+ years left on the lease however I read a new store located nearby is what was offered. Surely the City could send an inspector through the store for blightedness, code violation and they would probably even find asbestos which would condemn the building and then Lampert can pay the cost of demolition.

I work at the Burlington, WA Kmart and I just want to know if anyone knows for sure when we are shutting down. I’ve been told that they aren’t going to tell us if they don’t have to (which they don’t), leaving us in the dark until they lay us all off. Any and all information would be amazing.

@1lzi Since this is the case, I am curious as to why they have not yet announced Burlington WA as closing? Being it's the last 1 in the state, and none of the nearby states (OR, ID) have any stores left (MT has only 1), why would they bother keeping it open and having to send shipments to a location with no other nearby stores? I'm just surprised they didn't pull the plug on this one and the Montana store. And for that matter, the other states with only 1 location each, like ND, IL, TX, MN, CO, NH, MI, NV, etc..

it was really sad being in the Burlington Kmart. They removed all of the cash registers except one. You can see outlines on the floor where aisles once were, they are removing aisles and spreading out the other aisles to fill up space. There is enough room between all the aisles that pallets could easily fit down them —that is how wide apart they are. All aisle identifiers are gone because merchandise is being condensed in the last remaining aisles. When I was leaving the store it was really dark in the parking lot, then I realized the parking lot lights are not on. The only light was from the store sidewalk area. But it was ok because there was only 4 cars in the lot including mine so I was parked very near the store —and this was at 5:30 pm on a Friday.

My mother is rolling over in her grave...man, she loved Kmart. That Burlington WA store would have been the last one she ever stepped into.

If they close as many stores next year as this year they should be down to 7 remaining large stores and and a few more SHOS stores. They close about SHOS stores quarter

Thank you for your information about the Burlington, WA Kmart. I have been wondering how that store is doing since it is the last Kmart in the northwest. My market (Portland, OR) lost all of our Kmart and sears stores last year. from the looks of it, the closest Kmart in The Dalles, OR and the last holdout for either format in the state is closing.

I was in the Washington state last Kmart yesterday
It was half empty
Sad
Christmas aisles were mostly empty and what was on the shelves looked like leftovers from last year
Walls were moved to cut off parts of the salesfloor And make the store smaller
I was one of 6 customers in the store at 5 pm
This was probably a great store once
Now just an empty shell left
Thanks Eddie

San Bruno sears closing will be the end of apparel
That store was the flagship store and the store apparel used to store samples and test items

Given Eddie's long history of shuttering stores, all of them will close in 2020.

@1jdi If you're going to copy my post at least get it right. The list I MADE, was about Kmarts, not Sears. There are 60 KMARTS left Worldwide, I didn't do the Sears list, as of yet.
