Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Any rumors of elimination of certain departments before the end of the year?

Don’t have any info, and I don’t mean to start any panic, but if they have a plan to eliminate some departments, I think they will want to get it over with by the end of the year. Has there been any rumors of such eliminations to come, or is this just my twisted logic? Has anybody heard anything?

Listen eventually they are gonna come around to just about everyone. If it’s not a job elimination it will be a reduction of hours. The state of retail will be Gone With The Wind in the next 5 years and Lowe’s will be left to only be a lumber yard because most people do not by wood on the internet.

The below scenario that @11ZhwUd3-uex writes is more likely, eliminating the staffing for departments.

Having employees to stock the shelves when things sell out during the day, cleaning the departments, answering questions...no need anymore.

Tonight the back half of my store is being staffed by one associate in flooring. There is no one in plumbing, appliances, cabinets, or millwork.

Customers are frustrated and angry; the paint guy is getting an earful from a customer in cabinets about how there is never anyone in the department.

I they lay-off anyone else they might as well close the stores.

Kind of hard to get rid of any of our floor sales department without gutting the stores and driving more customers to competitors big and small.
