Thread regarding Sears layoffs

What store will be the last to close?

Which location do you think will have the lights on just one day longer and finally turn the lights out on the name for good?

@1guh Sure West Wood NJ is open, but so are 57 other Kmarts. So there's nothing that special about that 1 store LOL. I can name 58 Kmart stores that are "still open", and it just happens to be one of those 58. I like how someone wrote that they survived EVERY round of closing so far. Well, ya, and so did every other store on that list of 58 LOL! Every store always survives every round, until they don't.
Every store is staying open, until they're not. None are safe. They are all closing eventually. Just some will be sooner than others. As someone posted, I think last Kmart will be Guam, last Sears probably one of those small format ones. Full line is done.

The last group will all close on the same day. When DCs have burned off inventory, it’s over. You can’t support the chain (logistics, field leadership and shc) with a few stores. Think

Sears should just let the homeless camp out in their stores so they’ll have the numbers of customers in the store for the day

@1vgm My bad, I meant to write I thought Bridgehampton would close before Bohemia, yet Bohemia was announced in the last round. My bad LOL!

@1vgm Honestly I thought Bohemia NY would close before Bridgehampton simply because of the remote location of the latter, being so far east. I think old Bridgy goes in the next round, but we'll find out soon!

@kza I don't Know man. Don't think Hackensack NJ will outlast Guam, USVI, PR, or even the NYC stores.

@ocb I seriously doubt it. That one will surely close soon. It's old, and in a small, sparsely populated town (by NJ standards). Also because of some county ordinance it's the only Kmart that cannot open on SUNDAYS. So they only operate 6 Days. They're gonzo.

Definitely #7705, Guam (unless, of course, Eddie gets an offer he can't refuse.)

Edgewater, MD. Company owned store in a great location. Makes money and has the population to keep it open. Also, close to two major metro areas, so logistics match up.

The last Sears store to close will be in Laredo, Texas. That store has survived every round of closing so far and will make it to 2020. That's the only Sears store in the border in South Texas. Alot of tourism from Mexico loves to go shopping at Sears. It's always pack on the weekends, it's like a big fiesta in that store. 🎉🎊 I don't know why but it's crazy. 🙄

7840 and 9300 are the dot com warehouses. Bridgehampton makes way too much money to close anytime soon — not sure why all the rich people in the Hamptons want to buy their junk at Kmart, but here we are.

Wind Gap Pa Kmart has been rumored for awhile now. Pretty sure they will be on the next list. Walnutport Pa store will be in it to the end.

Last sears store to close will be Hackensack NJ Sears. Opened in 1932? So a bit of a “flagship” type store opened during sears heyday. Good for the company to have a store that harkens back to your glory days and Hackensack fits that bill! Store #1094

Westwood NJ Kmart! Store #3202 has survived EVERY round of closing so far and will make it into 2020! #Kmartstrong

@gww 9423 is Bridgehampton NY, waaaaay out on the eastern end of LI, they won't last as there's nothing nearby. When I google Kmart 7840 I get Riverside CA which is closing? Not sure what you are referring to, and 9300 comes up empty as well. Sorry, I'm not an employee of the company so I don't have Inside Knowledge that y'all might have. I'm just a curious customer LOL.

Ya, in layman's' terms, at least as far as Kmart (I'm less familiar with Sears), I think Guam, USVI, maybe a PR store or 2, and the 4 NYC stores. And even they will eventually close.

@1wp Um, no way bro.. Look at the job openings there. Both those locations you mentioned have virtually no job openings, And we Know what that usually means:

If Eddie was smart, he should have closed these stores, including the last Kmart in Des Plaines, IL.
The business community and press would have nothing to talk about this year. Could have shamed him some negative and bad press.
Out of sight, out of mind!

I’d say the NYC areas (Manhattan, Bronx, and Brooklyn, White Plains) since there are 6 and they have survived all rounds and have a larger population in those areas.
