@2qht - Congratulations and take that well-deserved vacation. I wish you the best on your next step, whether it's retirement or a job you will enjoy. I too was a hard working employee, but got cut with some other green branches. Nonetheless, I too was responsible with my finances, planned long range, saved and invested well. I've decided to retire before 60 and enjoying it. No need for me to be a Walmart greeter. No sir!
I wasn't dead weight. I EOI'd because I was so shocked they even considered me for any of the layoffs. I worked hard and smart and didn't kiss any butt. It is nice to see they are cutting the dead weight, but it's never an efficient process. You always cut some green branches and you always leave some rotten one's. Good thing I was responsible with my personal finances-now I can act like dead weight and take a nice vacation from a stressful job well done.
Straight Outta Houston, @ the OP, so I guess that means you now have to do the real work that so many others have carried you on for so so many year. I can hear the violins tuning up now, son. Good luck, Bubba, or Beaudreaux, or both....
Dead weight? - you mean the people who are Chevron, STILL, who did an awesome job of Gorgon/Wheatstone, AMBU, Pro+, Bigfoot, China gassification, Angola and on and on and on. You mean those 60,000 employees? Are those the awesome people as opposed to the dead wood??
Sorry to hear you were let go, @EKDsBG4 (OP). At least you have a sense of humor about it!!!
Yessiree, Bubba. And you're next...
