Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

All rant and no rave

My manager has been been horrible. 30 year manager - who probably have not taken management training in a long time – this person manages by intimidation and wonder why his employees are not giving them their best. Chevron is sooo old-school, so super conservative company. Business-casual only? Who does that in 2016?.

Silos, silos, silos… You can sit next to someone for weeks and they will never say hi to you if you aren't in the same team.

Any decision making is super slow – 000s of layers of management and decision makers.

Nobody thinks about the new generation, it’s all about how much wealth some folks can amass. Good luck trying to change jobs within the company, committees, etc.

All of you should collectively get off your high horses and look up word 'humble' in a dictionary

@vmk, I think I detect your satire in your reply. If it's not satire, then your attitude about everything needs adjustment. Lol.

Dude, I feel your pain.

After I left home because my parents didn't understand me and told me I would have to leave the house by 25, and can you believe, the kept my Xbox, it was MY XBOX! they bought.

I started working for Chevron, and I did a better job than anyone around me, and within the first week I was already at odds with my supervisor. I had showed up to work ON TIME 5 days in a row and.............NOTHING, he didn't even say "thanks", why should I even bother showing up on time?

On my first PMP I put that I was a "1" due to all the extremely hard work I did, and when the rankings came out, I got 2 A FRIGGIN 2 after all of the hard work I put in. Not even a promotion....

My A-hole supervisor said he couldn't justify a "1" because others had out performed me, OUTPERFORMED ME!! that was total BS, I went straight to Facebook as posted how horrible I had been treated, then found this site and see that you beat me to it

Thanks Bro

Management is two ways. Easy to blame someone else. When you point one finger at your manager, three fingers point back at you. While your direct supervisor is your primary go-to for your career needs, you should also take advantage of your internal networks, your coach, your mentor, your coworkers. You have to take the initiative; it's not done for you.
