Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Numbers so far

Anyone have a figure for how many of the 6-7k have already been laid off so far? Do we include contractors in the 6-7k?

I guess you didn't bother to read the 3Q earnings report...It clearly states 6-7000 employees and a like number of contractors.

The layoff numbers never include contractors. That is the beauty of having contractors at any company, they don't count against the layoff numbers. This allows a company to scale up, and scale down, under the radar. When the stock market sees a company doing layoffs, they tend to think the company is doing poorly, so they sell their stock. So, Chevron might be saying 6000-7000 layoffs, but it could actually mean 9000-10,000 with contractors included.

I laughed pretty good at the "7" response below. Spot on.

The answer is 7

When those 7 tell their family that they were laid off, their families will quit out of protest, then other relatives and spouses. when all is said and done, and all their family members and children and spouses of those family members are no longer employed at Chevron, the total will come to 6-7k give or take a few thousand.

I'm pretty sure that's how it works
