Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

What's a transition position?

Several Org charts have "transition positions" does any one know how long these positions are for. And will you be eligible for a separation package if you are placed in a transition position?

My assumption is it would have to end in 2016 but I can't find any documentation defining these positions.

Transitional positions are temporary positions with an end date. Many of those positions could be eliminated today as there is limited value added from those targeted roles. At some point, Chevron mgt will recognize the endgame timeline can be shortened significantly for the "transitional positions". There are many transitionary roles currently functionless due to budget reductions and the lack of drilling opportunities at $30/bbl prices.

Asset sales are impeeded on a general basis, because it is not clear that the market will turn soon. It may be, with the advent of US shale oil, and the global shale oil push, that oil prices will stay in the $30s for 2 or 3 decades. Potential buyer's investment time horizon is very uncertain. Big Oil cant get its head around this because theit strategies are rooted in an entirely different price scenario. It wasnt too long ago that Watson announced to the world that $100 oil is here to stay. LOL about that.

The end date transition jobs are identified and communicated to people in transition jobs. The offer would specify the end date. Check with the supervisor or HR about it.

2zng - What do you think is the problem(s) with the Chevron/Cox sale? The fact is there is more money changing hands in today's market than you would ever believe. Investment firms are in line to seize the deals and hold their positions until prices rise.

G2jtlqu-us, I don't know where you get your information from, but poor record keeping and documentation is not the problem with selling the GOM assets. Look at the news and the number of Oil and Gas industries which have gone bankrupt. Also, there is not a bank in the U.S. or anywhere else that will give money to any company in today's economy. Chevron made a mistake years ago when oil was high and the shelf assets should have been sold due to low production. Chevron Management put GOM in this position, nobody else to blame but the VP of CNAEP.

Rumor has it there's no announcement because they can't seem to seal the deal. Whether it be with or without knowledge a couple of things were misrepresented on some wells, Cox is also requesting info that may or may not be incorrect outdated or simply unavailable do to poor record keeping.

where do you all find post-ESP org charts ?

The Whitepages are useless since they only show one level below and the 'official' BU org charts on the intranet are old, stale PDFs created a while ago

PS: There has been no official announcement of GOM asset sale inside Chevron, outside GOM

If they can't make the deal with Cox work they'll be owning those properties for a while.

They are sunset jobs for GOM people left standing after ESP. The job is preparing asset sale materials and keeping shelf fields going until they sell in 2017 or whenever. Of course the first asset package deal with Cox fell through because of Chevron's uber-poor recordkeeping and documentation. Potential buyers know how desparate we are to divest and know that if they hold out we inevitably cave below what GOM idiot leadership think is fair value. Its quite possible the assets will not sell by 2017 so who knows it might at least be a job for awhile. A miserable thankless job in a BU that cant operate in the red and will have to cut staff even further later in the year. The jobs will go to people who have been working the fields and they won't relocate anyone.
