Last day on payroll for those left standing

What is the likely last day on payroll for those left standing? If one comes to know of the left standing decision on 7th to 11th and badges are collected at the same time, will that also be the last day on payroll? If not, how long do people get to stay on payroll before collecting severance?

I was left standing at the end of 2015. They gave me a week to hand over my work to a colleague, and then they collected my laptop/badge/phone. That handover period will vary, depending on your role and your supervisor's call. Once you have a designated final day in office, your 6 week transition begins. During that time, you receive the same paycheck, full benefits, just like nothing changed. You can also apply for CVX roles through an internal job posting site, if any exist at this point. During that 6 weeks, you are able to be re-hired to those roles, if you apply. After that 6 weeks, you arrive at your final employment date, and are no longer a CVX employee. Then you receive a release statement in the mail, which you must sign and return to Chevron. About a month later, you will then receive your severance check. Minimum of 8 weeks, max of 1 year, depending on your years of service (2 months pay per year of service).

Good luck everyone, the job market is rough right now. I've been unemployed for 5 months now.

@4zxy, ask your supervisor or HRBP. Each BU and OPCO will have its own process. Larger work groups will likely have you out if the office that same day after being notified. It's for security reasons only, do don't anything too personal if it happens to you. My advise is to be prepared just in case you only are given 10 minutes to vacate the building. Start making a list of things to do. Take your personal affects home each day, little by little. Backup any files to a thumb drive that you think you'll need. Make sure you take them home. It's possible that security will ask you to empty your pockets or backpack before leaving. Get your affairs in order now.

"If you are (one of the 2087 people) left standing, you will be one of the first to be notified on the 7th and 8th. When you are notified you will be required to handover all company items, including your badge."

I'm curious if this is actually correct that a left standing employee is immediately required to turn over everything and head home. In the September 2015 ROM the left standing employees had anywhere from 7-14 days to wrap up their ongoing work and create a transition plan, then the 60 days started after there 1-2 weeks of transition.

I'm curious where the information came from that says the left standing employees need to turn everything in right away and head home as this was not the case in the previous ROM.

@2ybd

The "Not Yet Placed" status applies only to Expats.

And I had to sit in a very long and boring death by power point presentation presented by HR, as well as a video conference call with my ROM rep. It was stated at least twice, maybe three times.

When I am an expat left standing what is the current payroll status procedure?

6 weeks in not yet placed status - then 6 weeks in warn?

OR

straight to 6 weeks warn?

From what this post indicates it's straight to 6 weeks warn

6p days? What do you mean?

2hxk -- I do not know where you heard it. In the last ROM, people were given 6p days to leave Chevron and they are classified as "left standing". That's what it says on my layoff paperwork. That was no 6 week of " not yet placed time".

These management clowns may as well be speaking in tongues. They themselves don't even understand what they said yesterday. They say one thing, but the next day they say it meant something else. #RealCircus.

We were told the "Not Yet Selected" is just another way of saying repatriation time period. And it should be 6 weeks.

@2utt,

I think we are actually being told the same thing, but interpreting it slightly differently.

What I was talking about is the time that we are going to be paid, from when we are repatriated. We will now get 60 days of pay from that time, but the previous ROM people got 6 weeks of Not Yet Placed time, and then went into 6 weeks of Left Standing. Now we skip the first part and go directly into left standing.

As you stated, the left standing period will begin once we finish our last day on the job, and that will be up to our BU.

60 days or 6 weeks for non-expats ???

Chevron has not issued WARN yet, so it has to be 60 days.

I wonder if some will be asked to stay in the office for a few days or a week to do a handover.

I also heard that if you start another job within the 60 days you forfeit the remainder of the pay.

@21wt I asked my HR & ROM reps the same question. I was told that it would take 6 weeks to repatriate, then we would start our time under the WARN act.

I'm not saying you're wrong, rather we're being told different things. So who knows who is right...

Either way good luck!

Update the 12 week question for expats.

Chevron has dropped the 6 + 6 system, and will now be giving expats only 60 days of pay after the left standing date. This complies with the WARN act of 1988, and saves the company 4 weeks pay for every expat that they lay off.

I got this information from the ESP ROM team in response to a question that I asked. This is recent change that occurred after the ALPHA ROM review.

During Alpha, the person had 6 (or twelve) weeks to sit at home and do nothing. Just collect paycheck. Should not be any different now.

Yes "active" employee for HR and benefits, but not in any work related capacity. They wanted them out asap if not sooner.

12 weeks for expats. Then left standing. The post is correct.

@1qwt, correct. During these two periods of 6 weeks each, the person is still an active employee and on the company payroll. While in that status, the employee continues receiving all the benefits, including 401k match and pension accrual.

@GBhxIQQ-vbm, that is the clearest answer I have seen on this question. So benefits like 401k match and pension accrual should continue through that period, I would think.

I have read that the left standing period is 6 weeks. If you are an expat, it looks like you get 6 additional weeks as "Not yet placed". Once the not yet placed time is complete, you switch to left standing and can contact LHH for outplacement assistance.

How long is the redeployment period?

Post ID: @nog+GBhxIQQ

If you are (one of the 2087 people) left standing, you will be one of the first to be notified on the 7th and 8th. When you are notified you will be required to handover all company items, including your badge. Following this notification the redeployment period begins.

This is not the time for discussion, your time has expired and we wish you the best of luck.
