Job postings disappearing

Am I the only one who has attempted to post for a job, only to find out that it no longer exists? I have the numbers, locations, and job owners, but they are no longer on the tool.

Think maybe they have selected people already?

@1fuw: The consolidation will result in more jobs one can apply for during the ESP. The no. of jobs does not change, just the way they are arranged. A position (job description) can now have more than one job attached to it. You're allowed to apply for 4 positions, if you apply to a consolidated position (with more than one job attached to it), you're applying for more than 4 jobs. e.g. there is one VP position available at each BU and if their job description and PSG ranges are exactly the same, you'd be able to apply for all VP jobs under CNAEP by applying for one position. It may appear that there is only one VP job description, but there are just as many jobs as before consolidated under one job description (I know that VP's are out of scope for the ESP, its just an example).

chevron will be sliced and diced and the valuable assets sold off. The California refineries will go next, followed by Pascagola. Chevron will play a secondary role in JOAs going forward. The FTE count will be decimated.

I am pretty sure that the elimination of job postings does not make it better for those in scope. Of course I am not a math genius, but less jobs seem to indicate less positions.

@1mki This is to make the inscope people and job owners lives easier. If there is a supervisor with ten reports dong the exact same thing, instead of reviewing ten of the exact same slates, the supervisor can just review one slate and pick the top ten. For the inscope people, it means you have a shot at more positions.

@GmHnz5C-1ejm I agree with you, there are a lot of people getting the shaft. "The only transition going on here are the poor employees getting the shaft and being shown the door."

One other possibility could be that some of the jobs were consolidated under one position. If someone had 10 jobs of the same type and PSG range, they could only apply to 4 of those positions in spite of being eligible for all 10. Thus, the plan was to consolidate all 10 positions of the same type and PSG range under one position to improve a qualified candidate's chances of applying to all the positions they felt qualified to apply.

@hra, don't ask your ROM Representative. He's part of the conspiracy. Does the left hand know what the right is doing in Chevron? You can never be sure. Who are the schmucks that should be fired for fvcking up a jobs list like this? Transition jobs, my ass. They assigned a member of friends and family to that job then removed it from the list. The only transition going on here are the poor employees getting the shaft and being shown the door.

I noticed one and asked my Rom Rep he said it was a Transition position and should not have been put in the tool.

It's either ass backward planning as usual or Chevron juggling the job count numbers around for State Labor law reasons. Similar things happened in preparing the demographics list of those being laid off in where employees under age 30 were on the list initially but at last minute were given internal company positions. The net result was a larger percentage of older employees were let go. All these underhanded maneuvers are done to throw off governmental reporting. Nothing different in my opinion that's going on here with these disappearing job openings.

During Alpha, if it was a sunset job and transitional, they pulled the job off. And then there were those that they deliberately decided to not fill and those they eliminated. The list of jobs changed daily ...

Yes. Around 10% of jobs will be eliminated.

"Think maybe they have selected people already?"

No because that would be against the Chevron Way and is impossible to happen.

We were told some were eliminated. Not disappearing because of selection.

Disappearing jobs happened in Alpha as well.

I have not personally experinced this phenomenon but is likely due to the job being eliminated.
