Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

EOI = 100% you go?

We have been told pressing the EOI button is a certain one way ticket out the door with severance. Other managers say no it is dependent on business needs. Which is it?

@ahlo, if you are a younger person and with less than 10 years at Chevron, I agree you made a good move. Chevron is not the same company it was 10-15 years ago. It has inherent problems with its entrenched management that will take the rest of your career to remedy. Leave now with your severance and secure yourself a better company to work for. Your younger age and experience will give you a leg up.

I EOI'd and I am not getting a good feeling about it being accepted. I am trying to hand off project and documentation and my manager says hang on to it. Like he intends on me being here to work it.

Eagerly awaiting April 7

@1esu, you are talking through your ass. The SESP (Severance Plan) rules are written and available to all employees. If you qualify, you get it. If you don't meet the requirements, you don't. Just that simple.

@GpuTVxF-1esu: If Chevron provides the severance to a large group of people they cannot restrict the same package to a select few employees by choice. They can either offer a package to all or offer no package to everyone, they cannot pick and choose who gets the package.

Chevron is offering you little weasels a generous severance package if you get cut. Be grateful. Under no terms is Chevron required by law to give this package and they are free to withhold or change them at any moment. Don't fool yourselves. A lawyer will get you something maybe, but you will get pennies on the dollar. You are forgetting the basic premise. Chevron does not OWE you, nor did they PROMISE anyone, in writing or not, by contract or not, any type of guaranteed severance upon dismissal. It's a gift. Be happy that you will be offered that.(maybe).

@1nhk, if Chevron wronged an employee and held back his severance, an attorney will get his client his entire severance plus some. The lawyers fees will be paid by Chevron if they wronged the employee.

@GpuTVxF-mmi: you need to tell the person you know to get a lawyer because CVX is setting a precedent by offering severance packages. An attorney will take 30-40% but they will get a positive financial settlement for the former employee.

If you raise hand it is almost guaranteed. Business need thing is kept there just in case there are a lot of people in same PSG or job type raise hand, in rare case.

Check the box at your own peril. Severance is not guaranteed. It is not guaranteed and is not required by law. I know one person who was left standing with no severance so far. Hopefully that was the exception, not the norm.
