Intel did great hiring an outsider. Fresh pair of eyes with no already built links with the already inefficient and incompetents in IT.

Hiring an insider would have again been the same crap on repeat.. continuing in works that Kim had started, friends saving their friends, friends supporting decisions of their friends .. that's not how new ideas and changes gets generated; or better ways of achieving results get established.

"Kim was available" and we couldn't get rid of her lest we give ourselves more bad PR...

I always wondered how it made any sense for Intel employees to be carrying around POS, generations-old, barely-functioning laptops (laded with useless software and add-ons) while struggling to use poorly-designed, clunky, confusing business process applications on a difficult to navigate intranet between interminable periods waiting for Costa-Rican IT support that could never solve my problems.

I guess that's "success" for an Intel CIO.

5 years as CIO is very long in the tooth

@1jeq - She was fired from IT, the level of cronyism and outright waste in that org had reached stratospheric levels. Wouldn't think this will happen under Murthy in CISA, but I also think Murthy is more buzzword than substance.

If someone was doing a great job but wanted to do something new, is it sufficient to let someone else from within the company step up and succeed? Hiring an outsider seemed overkill.

Murty had an open forum today and he let somethin slip. He was asked about hiring KIm, and why CiSA needed a COO. He talked about how the title came more from the job function, meaning once they defined the job they realized it was like a COO position. What he let slip though was the phrase "Kim was available." I took it to mean that she was let go as CIO and was trying to find herself a new position in the company. I don't think she was "hired away" from the CIO position based on how Murty phrased it.

Who the fvck cares about IT?

A blind monkey could run IT at any Fortune 500 company. Value is not created in IT.

That's why I asked "@frx - What did she mess up in IT? The internal memo sounded pretty complimentary. @wcu. Still haven't gotten an answer.

With all the flattering congratulation messages to Kim, one would get an impression of her being a very successful leader. To the contrary.

Those in IT know the real mess it is. Even her staff meetings are less than inspiring with same slides presented each quarter.

Murthy hired on as the President, not COO.

Good question @IHarmdZ-esy , maybe so Murthy can have more time to prepare the next round of layoffs.

Here's what I think of every time I see the name CISA... that it's pronounced seesaw. I wonder what kind of mileage naysayers can get out of that name? LOL

I don't think this is a promotion for Kim S. at all.

More like a demotion disguised as a lateral transfer.

Would be interesting to see if she messes up CISA as much as she messed up IT.
