Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

Layoff Bartlesville, shut it down and save some people that actually work!

Layoff Bartlesville, shut it down and save some people that actually work! We can no longer afford to keep two corporate offices in two different states! Everyone knows the Bartlesville office is just a token to some past heritage. That heritage has been discarded so it's time to move on!

Wow! It is good to know I am not the only one that has made these observations and feels this way about Bartlesville! It is just a bad place with a lot of bad people trying to hang on to something grand that went away many years ago!

Weird little place is a very solid statement, and I mean weird in a bad way. It is a unique combination of cracked out meth heads and self righteous, pretentious, greek type bimbos and douch bags. It definitely has the "big fish in little pond" syndrome going on. The wanna be chic restaurants in the poor excuse for a downtown are laughable at best. The only thing worse than the food in these sh1th0les is the service. Welcome to gaping anusville. Y'all come back now, ya hear.

@2cxc. Its depressing to walk around some of the floors. Empty space all over... I was walking around TA or TR the other day. Mostly empty on the second floor, only a couple of people on on half of the floor. So sad. Heck the cafeteria isn't even that busy any more. Look at the parking garage on Dairy Ashford. Its over half empty just my best guess just from driving around. Doesn't help that P66 is gone. Even less people now.

Meanwhile, entire hallways (and maybe even a floor or two) in the main Houston complex are empty. And of course, more vacancies to come. Rent-free office space, just saying.

The only reason these ridiculous offices in Bartlesville aren't shut down is because of the massive bad press no one wants to deal with as a result of pulling a Ponca City again. Even if P66 sticks around, it would be basically a death blow to this weird little place that has attracted a bunch of subpar spoiled brats collecting too big a paycheck for far too long. There are a lot of do-nothing know-nothing hangers on in Houston too, but it's the bad press alone keeping the pull out from occurring... Until the sign in front of the building changes.

Well played by a old phillips employee but won't hold water. Shutting down rented offices in Bartlesville and offering jobs in Houston and replacing those that don't want them will take as long as it takes water to fill the space occupied by your hand and arm when you pull it out of a bucket of water! Time to move on!

First of all there is only ONE ConocoPhillips headquarters and that is in Houston. For someone that wants to blow past the heritage company nostalgia, you need to get your facts straight. Bartlesville USE to be the headquarters for Phillips Petroleum Company. Too costly to go through major relocation initiatives and even if they ever decided to close Bartlesville, it's too costly for all the job holders in Bartlesville to train someone in Houston to do the work. We may have some of the best and brightest at ConocoPhillips, but you need to be knocked down a peg or two. Houston is not superior. Just a different set of job requirements between the two locations and BOTH are vital to the success of the Company.

What's with the old Phillips employee with a chip on their shoulder? Times change and so do companies, time to move on! Shut down Bartlesville drop the trailing name and move on!

@ kjq...Think again. The offices in Bartlesville are owned by P66 and COP leases space now. That's an ongoing expense that could be avoided by consolidating employees all in Houston and closing down Bartlesville. Would save a lot of money since all could now fit in the Houston complex. No more need for a company shuttle, significantly reduced travel expenses, etc. It seems that it would make very good business sense at this point. Obviously would be a difficult thing for many in Bartlesville, but we should be in survival mode at this point and any way you slice it, good people are going to lose their jobs and suffer the consequences of the ELT's ineptitude. Sad all around.

Why do you care. The offices are paid for. You just hate heritage Phillipd and have an axe to grind.
