Thread regarding ConocoPhillips layoffs

24/7

Do all BU's have a 24-7 group? I am wondering if it is a truly necessary department? Nothing personal just a thought

True true we don't really need a person to tell another person to type a spread sheet that will tell a 3rd person that we need water ....cut the middle makes sense

As far as cheap insurance I believe not. They have been caught time after time watching movies playing on lap tops or sometimes nowhere to be found for hours. So at what minimum 40,000 a year times 8 thats not real cheap and most are contract if nothing more release contractors so that COP have the option of filling those positions.

I am pretty sure there are more than 4 in that group. I am also sure that there are plenty to spare in all groups! SJ can skim an easy 65-80 easy and still function just fine.

Ah, 24/7. Worthless, maybe. But not as useless a job as the water and oil hauling group. This is a group created under the guise of saving money, but all they do is act as a middle man between MSOs and the haulers. I still don't see why MSOs can't just work with the haulers themselves like they did for, um FOREVER before this. "That would book them up too much, MSOs are already SOOOO busy," they say. Well if they can't figure out how to work at multiple things at once, maybe they can let one of the 1,000 other people who need jobs do it, I'm sure they'd find a way to track their third party hauling requests between naps. Then you can get rid of the 4, yes 4, people in that water and oil hauling group. See? Already making progress.

Good Question. With 10K wells in SJBU or any operation it makes economic sense to monitor them 24/7; it is cheap insurance to reduce or eliminate the cost of a spill and maintain the trust of the public. I doubt they are paying large salaries to accomplish this. Eliminating this cheap insurance could have the reverse effect and COP could incur fines and cleanup cost many times over the cost of 24/7 monitoring. This would be the case for most of our operations.

So San Juan has 10,000 wells and they are a non-core asset? I guess I don't need to say any more... 🖕🏿

24/7, iOF, one call center, IMAT ... They all are monitoring the fields and operations all the time. Even platforms have 24 HR control rooms. I am sure that those in San Juan think thier special because they monitor their wells, but you are not alone ... Genius :)

Hey geniuses 24/7 is the name of a group in the San Juan they watch critical alarms on tanks they call out whoever is on call before a spill happens and cop gets a fine etc etc because they have 10,000 wells and apparently it is not a common GROUP in each Business Unit or dumb and dumber would know what you are talking about!

If they think this is a 9 to 5 job, they most likely work in one of the Eagle Ford subsurface teams.

Clearly I don't what ... Drill or produce oil? Did that on 3 continents, and been in operations for the last 20 years. Operations is 24 hours a day 365 days a year, all you need to do is go to wellhead to notice that. No sure where you work that you think this is a 9 to 5 job.
