A subsidiary of Honeywell International has won a contract worth $2.6 billion to manage the sprawling New Mexico-based Sandia National Laboratories weapons and research laboratory that specializes in national security, nuclear weapons and other projects deemed vital for the U.S., federal officials announced Friday.

Long ago I decided that three things about a job were important to me and most people. In no particular order, they are job content/satisfaction, pay/benefits and location. A few of us manage to get all three at the same time. Most of us used to get two out of three and feel pretty good. If we only got one or none, we were looking elsewhere. I will send an invoice for this consultation.

Turnover has gone extreme. Over a 3 year period, Sandia cannot keep 50% of the people who aren't on the old pension. They're not releasing numbers, but In 2 years, I bet that number is closer to 75%. VP says, "we need suggestions on how to keep people. Money and benefits are off the table".

Current contract / revenue is 3.07 billion. The new contract is 2.6 billion. Do the math. Basically a group of executives taking a cash cut to screw 10,300 employees. We all know it's going to come from benefits.

Sandia employees want to work on R the town is a dump stuck 10-20 years behind the rest of the civilized world. The best and brightest can and will go elsewhere.

I guess the DOE didn't learn their lesson when they screwed everyone at Pantex.

It's going to fun watching the Honeywell culture blitzkrieg hitting the poor Sandians. You can bet that Hon massively underbid and will start cutting costs immediately. Good bye four weeks of vacation and WFH...

@KTA3W8q-syx Just leave ABQ. You won't regret it. The place is circling the drain anyway.

Everyone I talk to likes working there. I'm trying to work there. Now what? They were my best shot at not having to leave the Albuquerque area. I am so upset.

Its not really a $2.5B contract. That's the entire lab budget. The actual revenue to Honeywell is probably in the $10 to $100m range.

Is this a HTSI contract? We sold HTSI earlier this year to KBR for 300 million. No, it can't be. I am sure they are talking about another "National Technology and Engineering Solutions " subsidiary. Right? I can't find a Honeywell sub by that name anywhere. Did we just sell the little HTSI with a 2.5 billion dollar contract for 300 million. Someone please tell me I am wrong.
