New Store Closings

Great job everybody on adding to the closing list. We have 28 of the 30. I know someone out there knows which 2 are missing. Corporate is not going to give the media a list. The only list that can be found comes from the store level of the closing stores. Eddie doesn't want all of this negative publicity, but we need to let the others that are stilll open know what he is doing. This forum is the only communication we have with each other, so let's find those other 2 stores.

Leases mean nothing. Most commercial leases have an "out" meaning that if you leave or downsize before the lease is up you just pay a penalty. Some leases have a discount on the rent if you sign long term. i.e. if you sign for 1 year the rent would be $1000, if you sign for 5 years the rent is $900 etc. So in reality your lease doesn't really matter, dont get your hopes up just because you have 5 years left on a lease, it all has to do with geography.

They close stores due to georgraphy. It's a logistics thing. It makes no sense to make store deliveries to one store that is hundreds of miles from the next closest store. That is why you see stores close in Western Florida or KY. It does not matter if your store is profitable or not, if your store is close to a bunch of unprofitable stores then you will probably close. Just take a look at the stores closed in the last two-three years. All in the same area or state, all on a defined delivery route. Logistics its all about logistics.

Not true. I have seen stores close up to 2 years before the lease was up.

All everyone has to do is find out when there stores lease is up and that's when your store will be closing...every leased store will eventually be closed.
