Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

What about part-time night stocking associates with just over 1 year of hire date?

This announcement has me anxious and unsure of my stability with Lowe's. What about part-time night stocking associates with just over 1 year of hire date? I am currently working between 24 and 25 hours weekly and have seen many Seasonal positions filled while here. Also, I have noticed 6 fellow night stockers quit, or be fired during this time. I'm no expert at math, but I know a high turn over rate when I see it. Please advise.

Apparently I am not adept in this kind of communication. I only wanted to say how much I appreciate Store 2542 and am so grateful for the entire relationship! Love to all and hang in there Brandon

I have read these posts quite a bit. I want to thank the person who attempts to clarify things within his/her parameters. II would like to reiterate my thoughts. Lowe's has held on to our employment structure for too long. Retailers have bailed since 2007/2008 due to the economy. Lowe's must now compete in the marketplace on a different level. Fight or flight. If not, we will not have the company we all have invested in for months, years or careers. Now it is time to adjust to the changing marketplace and economy. No doubt this is a sad and disappointing time for us all but I believe in my heart that it hurts Robert Niblock and our history as much as it hurts us all. Sad times.I believe Lowe's held on as long as they could on behalf of their employees and the value they place on them. We are a business in retail in a rapidly declining industry. The handling of this is terribly painful to many of us but Lowe's has done the best they possibly could have under these circumstances...maybe...We have all built on our futures through our experiences at Lowe's. Retail has not been a stalwart profession or a place to rest. It a great foundation for the past and future of people who work hard and commit Dedication and dealing with customers is a talent and a professional asset. Maybe we should rethink things if this is upsetting. We have obtained unique talents and skills at Lowe's. We are proud of our accomplishments and experiences. We are grateful for what it all has taught and given us I am proud of the work I have done . I hope you are too.

Ok, so just to clear the air, these positions are NOT being impacted by this restructure:

Cashiers (Full-time and Part-time)

CSAs (Full-time & Part-Time)

Sales Specialists (OPE Specialist will become full-time CSA. No reduction in pay for those in the role at this time.)

Plumbing & Electrical Pros

Support Roles (PSC, PSA, ISC, Credit/SOS Coordinator, Cash Office Clerk, RTM Clerk, Receiving Clerk)

Day Stocking

Night Stocking

DMLPS

PSA DM

DMIS (in markets where CPO has yet to roll out)

You have nothing to worry about in your current role at this time.
