When I signed up as a retiree at open enrollment, I selected High Deductible Health Plan at about $1,600 a month (the PPO wasn't available) and received my cards etc. Now I received new cards in the mail that show Anthem PPO and when I checked online I'm in the Anthem PPO, and for about $500 a month less. Not complaining, just wondering what happened?

You surprised that Chevron did not switch to Anthem because they provided "better" coverage? Get real!
Sorry to hear of your predicament, nwtt. It's not uncommon, especially in the last few years, that Doctors decide to leave insurance carriers for various reasons. I had a PCP leave the insurance company I had for years because he said claimed they were making him submit too much paperwork. In your case, your Doctor didn't like the slowness of his payments from Anthem. Doctors will do whatever they please. It's not always about caring for patient's needs that comes first to some Doctors.
Just went to the doctors office and found out you can't keep your doctor. Evidently my previous doctor doesn't accept Anthem BlueCross because they evidently had problems paying. Also co-pay has gone up from $25 to $40 now. Anyone else find this?
Hey 5ogj, check the pre-65 Retiree Open Enrollment premium rates, not the subsidized Chevron employee rates.
The High Deductible Plan carrier is Anthem. Just check the open enrollment documents.
@4maw, what a rip. $850 a month for a High Deductible medical insurance plan is a rip-off. On top of the monthly premiums, you would also need to pay the annual deductible of what, $10,000 or more? Then after the deductible, you still have a percentage of the medical services to pay. I'd rather go without insurance or select an Obamacare plan that best suits your situation and try to keep my annual household income as low as possible for the year while looking for a good job.
5LX.... it may have been your Cobra option that was originally quoted on HR2. I was shown $1600 or thereabouts for family coverage in the website prior to January 1st. I called HR as instructed to enrol in retiree coverage. I had previously looked at options and chose the HDHP at around $850. Not a bad deal if you ask me, compared to AHCA (Obamacare). Based on the assumption I'm an honest, income reporting person.
I had the same experience. Got Anthem cards for a plan that I did not enroll in.
No, they're saying it's a good thing, they got better insurance for less money a month, I think just asking why it happened.
Sorry to hear of that, OP. Sounds like something I'd be very pissed about. Could it be you made a mistake and overlooked the PPO as an option you had? If you can double check the paperwork or online options made available to you then and what seems to be the choices available today, I think you have a compelling case to get the choice you would have taken during enrollment. Chevron has always been an honest company. If this what you say was in fact a mistake on Chevron's part, I'm positive they will make good, just don't let anymore time go by. Call the HRSC very soon and have all the information you need in front of you to support your position. Post a follow up here to let everyone know what happened.
