Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Oracle shutting down hardware business as of June 1

Based on the other threads below it is clear to me that oracle has decided to shut down the hardware business as of the new fiscal year starting June 1. Now if they had integrity they would have announced it so that investors, customers and employees would know, but that's not how oracle does business, so we're announcing it here and hopefully people will find out.

Oops, another secred out of the bag, that's just too bad three stooges

No way will the HW business be shut down completely. The Oracle Cloud Machine and the Exadata Cloud Machine (on prem lease/OpEx) and Exadata Cloud Service (public cloud Exadata) are selling well and a key part of Oracle's strategy and messaging from the C-level. These products are among the few competitive advantages over AWS.

But what of Donatellis slice of the pie. Will this just be the stuff that underpins the cloud or will it limp on for a while longer

The HW business is going down so fast that Oracle don't even report that in the earning reports anymore. The management knows it. Sparc is dead. How many sparc M-series do they sell a year? Probably less than handful. Oracle wants the existing customers to move to Oracle cloud but the customers go to AWS instead. AWS is 100x easier and 10x less expensive to maintain a data center. It's like the Microsoft in 1990. Everybody wants it.

And we apparently even have the equivalent of Spicer giving his daily bowel updates.

Another similarity between oracle and the Trump WH are the constant leaks and for the same reason - people just can't stand the dishonesty of those at the very top

All you need to do is look at what MH did at HP. Set the company on the path to split. HPE and HP.

Keep telling yourself that. The market will dictate and declines are inevitable.

It will shrink significantly. They won't kill the cow but may divest and sell it off.

Expect vacancy signs in Bedford and Burlington by the summer. What a waste.

Sounds not very plausible. Still 1 billion $ business every quarter with dream margins compared to the standard HW vendors like HPE, Dell and so on. You don't kill a 10 years old cow as long it gives milk but you may don't call the doctor anymore. Means maybe you will downsize the HW engineering to a minimum but you don't kill 1 billion revenue.... with 30% and more margin...
